Got a call from my brother

Got a call from my brother that my youngest brother was in the hospital with fluid around his heart and in his lungs. He totaled 2 cars last night including his own. Not sure of the details but evidently he drove home and his girlfriend took him to the hospital. Recently he had a serious infection in one eye and was left by the wayside and forgotten at St. Josephs hospital in Atlanta. Dr. wanted to keep him overnight but he had just spent 9 hours stranded on a hospital gurney without medical attention. The health center where he first sought medical attention about his eye, without an opportunity to inform the family he was whisked off in an ambulance to an Atlanta hospital. He had no way of reaching the family, fortunately his girlfriend tacked my brother to the hospital, he received instructions about his eye and went home.

I suspect he caught COVID in the hospital of which he did not fully recover and now his health is much worse than before to our concern that we are deciding how and when we make the trip to see him.

Geez, what a mess....the hospital debacle, that is. I hope your brother's in good hands now.

Mr Ed, to help you decide whether or not to travel to Atlanta, I suggest you look up cardiac pulmonary edema and find out what the discharge rate is, the average length of stay, after-care routine, etc.
