Got a class action settlement check

From Frontier Communications. It was a suit charging them with hitting customers with hidden charges and fees, etc. I knew it was coming, and was expecting the usual $5 or so payout that comes with these things. I got $148.00. Wow. I do not Christmas shop, so it is going to fill my pantry and get started on my Christmas dinner for my husband and I.
Already decided I am doing cornish game hens. He likes them, and I have only made them a couple of times.
 

Hey, good for you! I have Frontier, but don't remember hearing about any suit. Maybe it didn't apply to me. Enjoy the extra Xmas cash, and the Cornish hens. I'm sure they will be excellent.
 
That's rare that anything comes out of those class action suits except, as you said, $5 or so or a certificate for 1/2 off a new item. The rest usually goes to paying the attorneys' fees. My mother once was involved in one years ago and the attorney said that she might expect a settlement in excess of $20,000. She already had her new car picked out and then she got a $20 check.

You hit the jackpot there.

I've never heard of Frontier, but years ago someone local decided to sue the electric/gas co. over illegal fees on bills. It took ages, but when the case was finally settled customers who'd paid the fees were entitled to refunds. I received something like $132, and put most of it into a new computer (a Walmart refurb).
 
That's good to know. I usually ignore those class action letters, thinking I'd probably get about $1.32 back, so why bother? Maybe I should.
 
WOW - you did good ! I've been parts of class action suits .I was awarded "pocket change" ...LOL Now I'm in another one , from some company that kept calling even though I was on the no call list. Can't wait to see what award will be . Maybe I'll be able to go to McDonalds for coffee.
