Got My Blood Test Results And They Make No Sense

I switched doctors because mine moved. I had a bloodwork done a few days ago by the same clinic as the previous doctor used and I can make no sense of the results on most of the items. I don't see anything for cholesterol and nothing for triglycerides. I even went on the clinic's website to try to decipher these code and numbers. None of my codes registered! So Monday I will call their office and ask who in the hell can read these and why no tests for cholesterol and triglycerides?! What my previous doctor did was fill out a test data sheet by hand and enter the result in layman's terms so I knew where I stood. She seems to be a competent doctor but this is an insult.

I had my blood tested a few weeks back and the results have all been reported. I went to a Quest Diagnostics phlebotomy clinic for the blood draw and then, once testing had been completed, logged into their web site and got my reports.

All of the reports were easy to understand and clearly showed my value and the expected (normal) range. Any test result outside the expected range was flagged as being abnormal. My doctor had ordered testing that included triglycerides and cholesterol; total, HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). Other tests examined my liver, kidney, bone marrow and urinary tract function. The testing seemed to be quite thorough.

I just had an office visit with my doctor and he carefully explained the test results. You should be able to have similar service.

I hope your new doctor can help you understand the test results. If not, you may want to change your primary care physician.

Just got off the phone with them and all they had was dumb excuses for not being thorough. I now have an appointment on the 12th to do the cholesterol, AC1 and triglycerides testing. This is (was) my new doctor but I am going back to my original doctor after this episode.

Just the other night , I spoke with a female friend (58) She called to tell me that her doc put her on BP meds. Lisinopril The girl is in {IMO} some serious denial. She said her numbers were in the 180-190 / 90-110 range....she went on to tell me that , that is normal for her ! Her's has always been 'elevated', and also said that her doc said, well it's up to you.....but that he really recommended it .

I hope she gives in....and takes the med. She is really hard headed, and one that is always right/knows everything ! So...we'll see?

She is about 5'5" ? 210

Well, she's overweight, but I've seen overweight people with normal blood pressure. Personally, my BP was high 13 years ago at my diabetes diagnosis, but it has since been normal (usually around 118/60) after changing my diet. Maybe that has more to do with BP than weight.

According to a height/weight chart, anything between 180 and 235 lbs. for a woman 5'-5" tall is considered obese. When you couple that with high blood pressure, you have a heart attack time bomb. The only reason her numbers could be considered "normal" is that she's had high blood pressure for many years, a fact that would compound the danger. She's in trouble. She needs a doctor who will lay out the likely outcome, not tell her "It's up to you."

I got my blood test today. Results are posted on the provider's website with number readings plus a chart showing the normal ranges. It shows a history of past readings with the latest reading as well all in chart form. Ideally your readings should fall in the normal range. You can see trends if any. Seems like all providers are not the same. I should count my blessings.

Well, the "it's up to you" might be her version of what he said ? She still want's to think she's ten feet tall & bullet proof......[just because her mother lived to 96] with few problems.

But when ya think about it, it really is "up to us" We can ignore docs advise or follow it , or....follow it in some altered state. Take the med or not.

There are a few arthritis meds out there that I could try..........but haven't because. The "soft tissue" side effects are so well known, and so severe , I [so far] choose not to. Am I right or wrong?? Don't know, none of us do. If these meds are taken, and no problems arise ?.....we're good to go. But if problems do arise ? they usually are [not good] and once there, there is no going back.... so.

If one is 100 pounds overweight they are morbidly obese. As for the woman claiming her normal BP is 190/110 and not addressing it won't be here long.
