OK, I see what your saying.
I have very little doubt that they are exaggerating, and like you I read all sides and don't take anything they say as the "truth". That is true with most everything that involves BIG $$$. If one is not a high risk they can ignore this i guess. If one is immunodeficient or have other factors that would make them high risk, and they are in the public a lot, they should be vaccinated. If not because they believe it will help, but to make the culture and businesses run more smoothly.
The
"High Risk," the
"Immunodeficient," the
"Comorbidity," etc....well, I'm diabetic, I choose not to be vaccinated for Covid or the Flu - both strongly recommended & marketed to diabetics
(along with $300.00 "Diabetic Shoes," $20.00/pair "Diabetic Socks," & a variety of "Diabetic Shakes," "Diabetic Snacks, "Diabetic Bars," & a whole bunch of drugs to "Talk to your doctor about adding to the drugs you're already taking."
At my diabetes diagnosis, I was recommended to attend a "Diabetes Education Class" taught by a "CDE" (Certified Diabetes Educator).
I had hoped to learn about nutrition, exercise, lifestyle, etc.
NOPE - Most of the $250.00 class was spent describing the drugs to tell your doctor to prescribe for you. (like he wouldn't already know what drugs you need.)
No surprise there - guess who pays for Diabetes Educators' Continuing Education:
Drug Companies. Whoever pays gets to determine the content.
We were given pamphlets - with drug ads covering most of the pages, and "Food recommendations when eating at McDonalds, Carl's Jr. & Burger King." Same thing - they pay big time to get their names in the "Educational" material.
Then a dental hygienist showed up with mouthwashes, toothpastes & toothbrushes specially designed for diabetics - and all available for sale at her office - at very high prices.
Every illness/condition is a big selling point for drugs - I was told to take daily aspirin, blood pressure drugs (even though my blood pressure has always been normal), Statins, etc. When I asked, "Why?" the doctor said,
"Because you're diabetic."
I said, "Sorry, doc. That's not a reason in my view to take drugs that may do harm. I'd rather try to eat healthy & exercise. At least those have no bad side effects."
My sister (also diabetic) got a flu shot every year on the advice of her doctor. But after being sick & bedridden for 2 weeks after each flu shot, she said, "NO MORE."
A friend of mind just died at 66. After his last 15 day hospitalization with breathing problems, his doctor said,
"No more flu shots or Covid shots for you." Too late for him, unfortunately. In my opinion, sometimes, those co-morbidities or "Preexisting Conditions" are reasons
NOT to tax the immune system with vaccines that don't work, anyway.
But to each his own. I have my reasons, everyone else is entitled to theirs.
Covid has been here (according to "Experts") for 3 years. I either never got it or I had it & recovered. For most, it is nothing more than a cold. And the ONLY people I know who were very sick with Covid were those who were vaccinated. And boosted. There's that.....logic again.
I had the flu 40 years ago. Never since, even though I've cared for several friends who had the flu. I've never had a flu shot, either.
Am I "Lucky?" I don't think so. I've always thought flu shots were useless - based on many people who get the flu who had their flu shot.
Same thing we're seeing now with Covid. By now we're all aware of how many people get Covid after their Covid vaccinations & boosters.
That's where the "Logic" comes in.
Yes, they'll say "B-B-But you won't be as sick & your illness will be shorter if you're vaccinated."
Uh.......that was their explanation for flu shots, too, when people started asking, "If the flu shot works, why do so many people get the flu anyway?" What else can we expect them to say?
"Well, the vaccine is useless, but we still want you to get it." That wouldn't sell very many vaccines.
Not to worry, though - since Monkeypox is now a "State of Emergency."
