Government shutdown predicted!

The effort to defund Planned Parenthood is the cause. Any bill to fund agencies such as the FAA will have a rider to defund the parenthood program. Do you support such an effort?

Too many right wing evangelical politicians running for office or running for re-election. This will take the same track as is the Kim Davis fiasco. The GOP thought sure they had the Iran agreement throttled. Common sense prevailed. The GOP thought they had Ms. Clinton burned over Benghazi. After spending millions on a witch hunt... the "committee" is finding nothing. They have promised for 7 years to defund the Affordable Care Act. We know how far that has gone. So... a number of political careers are being wagered on defunding PP.

This issue will result in our government shutting down. Hundreds of thousands will go without pay while the politicians pander to the pathetic. Many of our military and all of their civilian support will go unpaid. Most social service programs will shut down. The right wing media will do their best to fire up the listeners. The Dems will sit rather quietly, allowing the Pubs to commit political suicide.

We will have a shut down. If it goes longer than 30 days, we will likely see a significant boost to the Dems as the 2016 presidential and congressional races near.

QFT....Exactly!

I hope people start thinking soon, or it's more of this BS in our future. Vote out these right wing preachers, give ourselves a government free of the dogma.

"vote them out", voters have been saying that for years but come election time the idiots put them right back in again.

Not riders, stipulations and most sides deals for one bill in general. It's one thing to vote or deal for a second bill but attaching side or unrelated issues to any one bill dilutes, hides or camouflages what's actually going on.

Another insanity that was done 6 years of so back was the one party release of the new medical bill. Not one thing written out and studied in the Congress. Just a big thick book of page titles and little else was passed by the Democrats of those days and I don't think many if any Republicans agreed or voted at all for what we have. It was not even a decent vote from the Democrats as the closing of votes was delayed over and over till they finally had enough Democrats converted to voting yes on the title of the project. Some years later they finally started to have enough printed out to begin the program and they then kept working to fill in more pages for the project. I don't think we are done yet and likely won't be till till sometime after Obama is gone. It does not matter as he has already accepted thanks for starting the program.

My point is that it is not just the Republicans that try to get things done even when the projects are not properly set up of properly designed.

Some years back the idea of changing the way bills go through the system were proposed. They should have been implemented back then so much of the crying today would not be able to happen. Those plans would restrict or eliminate this paper hanging that is done far too often by both parties.

How about 18 trillions bucks??? That's insanity but not to worry "It all Bush's fault" right ????

The GOP flat refuses to sit down and talk common sense as to reduction of spending. Last time the GOP shut down the government, they were bound and determined to repeal the Affordable Care Act. How'd that work out?? This go-around, they aren't talking budget. They're saying nothing goes through that allows funding for Planned Parenthood. My word!!! Get off the political soapboxes, Tea Party! Solve the budget issues instead of playing to your evangelical few.
Open up the pharmaceutical market so we can buy our prescriptions from Canada until the U.S. manufacturers get their prices in line. Nope! The pharma lobbyists have you in their pocket. Pass laws that cease allowing corporations from moving profits to foreign shores in order to not pay taxes. Nope! Can't bite the hand that feeds you. Instead, let's concentrate on same-sex marriage and women's health issues. Those issues have such a great impact on the "18 trillion bucks".

We're now significantly over 10 million enrolled in the Affordable Care Act. Where are the "death squads" the GOP promised? Where are the empty medical clinics as thousands of doctors leave the industry... as the GOP promised? It's working. The ACA still needs some fine tuning. If the GOP would have wanted to work through a bill that both sides could have authorship of, perhaps we would have seen a much better written bill. Instead, the GOP did everything they could to stymie the process.
It has been comical to hear the various GOP presidential candidates shouting the old talking point... "If elected POTUS, I'll repeal Obamacare!" Let's see. First, a POTUS cannot repeal anything without it first going through Congress. And, I'd like to see the favorability rating of a President who kicks 10 million citizens off their medical insurance plan.

This Planned Parenthood issue has nothing at all to do with current laws or bills through Congress. Everything about this issue is about appeasing the Evangelicals in an attempt to circumvent Roe v Wade. The Tea Party candidates know they can't get the support to run the Nation with their own interpretation of religious beliefs. So, they put on a big show and will put people out of work instead.

You are so right, GOM, it is a crying shame what they are doing to our country and that there are so many that refuse to acknowledge it.

Somehow there is always plenty of money for war, but we cannot have any programs that help the poor.
