Granddaughter just broke her arm.

Oh dear. I hope she is ok.
Did she go get a cast?
It must feel like a jinx thing
She'll be ok. She completely broke both the ulna and radius in her right arm. It was bent when she came in the house and said "I broke my arm!". They had to do a reduction, which means put it back together. The put a splint on it for a week, then she has to get more xrays to make sure it stayed put. If not, then they'll have to use screws. Once that part is over they'll put a cast on.

Well, so far so good. A little scare this morning, her fingers were swollen and going numb. Turns out when they wrapped her arm in the splint they didn't allow quite enough room for swelling, and 2 days later it was a bit too tight. They re-wrapped and took the opportunity for another set of X-rays, and everything looks good. They're going to see the orthopedic surgeon in a few days for a check and probably a cast.

It was kind of gruesome. When she came in the house she was whimpering but not crying: Daddy, I broke my arm." from the dining room. Like most parents, he responded with "Oh, come on, you did not." She walked around the corner into the living room and My wife, son, and I said in unison: "Oh yes she did!" It was bent at about a 11 degree angle between the elbow and wrist.

She's been a real trooper though. Besides wanting to go home instead of the hospital at first (understandable, it's a safe place), she's gone along with the program without complaint.
