Grandkids can be so cute and funny at the same time

I just want to share something that happened here several years ago. It is so cute!

Several years ago, I had made each of my grandkids, which ranged from about 4 to 9 years old, a different color combination afghan. I got them finished and my kids came one Sunday and I gave them their gifts. I called them in and told them I had a surprise for them. One of them asked, "Can we eat it?" I told him no. I asked them to sit down in the floor and I would bring their surprise out. I tried to get them quiet so I could tell them I had made them something to keep and put on their beds but they wouldn't hush and they were loud.

Finally, I pulled my motherly voice out and yelled. QUIET and something else but I don't remember what. My son-in-law's faces were so shocked. They didn't know I could get that loud. One of them said, "That's where she gets it". He had been complaining about our daughter talking so loud for several years. That got everyone's attention so I gave my little speech and gave them out. They were so excited. Their little faces lit up like Christmas trees. They grinned and giggled then giggled and grinned many more times. They wrapped up in them and giggled some more. As one of my daughters said, "I think they like them."

When the other daughter and her husband started to leave, they put the afghans in the back of their van. In just a few minutes, her husband was getting out and getting them out and put them up front with the kids. I called her that night and told her curiosity was getting the best of me. Why did he get the them out. She said the kids were crying wanting their "blankets". They were in the bed when I called and each of them wanted to sleep with their blanket so she let them. Her daughter didn't want any sheets on her bed, she just wanted her blanket. I called my other daughter to see how it went over there and she said her daughter had already snuggled up with her blanket at her other Grandma's and went to sleep. When they got home, she told her to brush her teeth and she looked in the bathroom later and there she was brushing her teeth with her "blanket". They all wanted to sleep with their blankets also. She said that one of her sons said "These blankets were made with love". He was so right.
