Grandma Tricks Scammer...Smart Or Risky Move?

A 73 year old grandmother did not fall for the Help, your grandson is in trouble, send money scam. She told the scammer who requested payment via Venmo that she didn't have an account. She played like she really believed that her grandson had a driving accident and told the caller to come to her home to pick up the money her grandson needed. When he arrived, she had called the police and they ran out of her house, tackled him to the ground and arrested him. I love that she scammed this man and got him arrested but I don't think it was a smart move to have him come to her home. What if he gets a light sentence and returns, or what if he has a partner, friend or family member who decides to get revenge? Video included:

I wouldn't have done it the way she did it. What do you think?

Nope..I wouldn't have had him come to my house.. I suspect she's now regretting that, because the thief is almost certainly going to get a short sentence if any jail time at all..

I was just reading this morning a similar story where a grandfather got a text call from a grand-daughter, saying she'd lost her phone and was having to use an old phone which is why grandad didn't recognise the number. She said she desperately needed money for a bill, and because she was using the old phone it didn't have her banking capabilities installed on it.. so could he lend her the 1,000 until she got her self sorted out.

Fortunately alarms rung for her step-father and before grandad could transfer the money which he was just about to do.. they asked the scammer one question... ''What is your middle name''?.. well the scammer didn't know of course, and they were rumbled...

Maybe she is like Jesus. She is willing to lay down her life for human justice. Maybe there are things worth dying for. What if she just stopped all those scammers preying on old people? At 73 she might be at peace with suffering and death. I don't think she did it impulsively, and probably knows of the revenge angle. IMO we need more people willing to risk their own safety /reputation to help bring justice to all who violate our human rights. ( devil's advocate post ) :)

Yes Devil's advocate post for sure Paco. I personally would have had him meet me in a public place. Cops could show up there too. But maybe she isn't near a public place...then how about around the corner, any place but her home.

I admire her courage and pluck and we all like to see accountability, but it’s best not to let the bad guys know where you live.
