The Night of Terror-

The Night of Terror occurred on November 14, 1917 at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia. A group of 33 female protesters, members of the Silent Sentinels who picketed the White House daily to ask for voting rights for women, were brutally tortured and beaten by the workhouse guards and the superintendent, W.H. Whittaker.[SUP][1][/SUP] These women were mostly members of theNational Woman's Party (NWP), an organization led by Alice Paul and Lucy Burns that fought for women’s suffrage.

How about some of the early female medical pioneers:

Elizabeth Blackwell (though she was born in England, her family came to American when she was young). She was the first fully accredited female doctor in America and a major medical reformer. She founded the first medical college for women.

Rebecca Lee Crumpler - The first African-American female doctor in the US.

Dr. Susan (Doc Suzy) Anderson - she practiced medicine in the wilds of Colorado because she was ostracized in the cities as a female doctor. She tramped all over the mining areas, administering to miners and their families and "the occasional cow".

America women who manage to raise to adulthood healthy, well-educated, and well-mannered children are making a great contribution to America. As are women who choose not to have children out of concern for the over-population of the planet.
