Just watched the movie, "The Notebook", a film adapted from the 1996 novel by American Novelist, Nicholas Sparks. What a great movie, as is "The Best of Me", another novel adapted movie, by Nicholas Sparks.

I'll have to look though my TV's On Demand movies & see if I can find any more of his movies listed there.

Anyone else a fan of his novels/movies too?

I did see "The Notebook" Cindy and it was a good as you say!

Although he is hugely popular, for some reason I have never read nor seen any other films based on his writing.

I've never read his books either and although I loved both movies, I guess I'd say "The Best of Me" was my favorite of the two.

I liked the movie OK, but mainly because I am a huge fan of James Garner and Gena Rowlands. I have read a couple of his books but find them a little "sappy". :D

Omg I’ve seen this movie about FIVE times and LOVE it but I’m a total romantic fool.
Its a classic love story and I do like Nicholas Sparks as a writer and have read other novels by this same author.
I remember recommending this to my parents who watched it and got mad at me for recommending such a sad movie.
Apparently the main actors who die in each other’s arms at the end of the movie was sad.
To me, that was the best part. They died asleep in each other’s arms. Is their any better way to go?

I am not one to read or watch a book or movie twice, ever, but I have watched, "Dirty Dancing" a few times.....Patrick Swayze's charisma made me change my mind on that. That, and the fact it was filmed at Lake Lure, NC.....where I wish to God I can move to some day......gorgeous!

I've also watched The Notebook several times but kick myself everytime for watching a movie with a sad ending...I always cry at the end. But maybe it's tears of endearment...it is very endearing. I'll have to look for "The Best ofMe". Never heard of that one.

You might also like the movie, "Message in a Bottle."

Do you get the Hallmark cable channel ?

They have lots of happy ending romance movies.

I especially like "The Lost Valentine", "All of My Heart" and "A Taste of Romance."

Other great romantic movies I like, "The Christmas Card". 'The Valley of Light", "Safe Haven" and "The Lake House."

And, of course, I love movies based on Jane Austin novels... and the 2004 movie musical, Phantom of the Opera, is to die for.

Yes, KingsX, I do watch the Hallmark movies too. Just watched The Beach House recently with Andie McDowell in it. Was one of the better ones they've had on.

" Message in a Bottle" and "Safe Haven" are both based on Nicholas Sparks' novels.

I've seen both and they are great.

Yes, I looked up other movie titled based on his novels and am going to check tomorrow and see if they are on my TV's On Demand movie list.

I also like the romantic comedy with Nicolas Cage called "The Family Man."
It's a modern take on "It's a Wonderful Life."

I'm not one for romantic books or movies, but this thread has made me think I just might read "The Notebook". I've thought about that for a long time already.

" The Ultimate Gift " is also a great movie [elderly James Garner is also in it.]
Also, "The Christmas Box" [with elderly Maureen O'Hara.]
