Chesa, is that you? Probably not. The role of the police and District Attorney is to enforce the law as it exists -- a law that has been defined by the duly elected representatives of the people. If the people wish to excuse crime by those who are poor or out of work, then so be it, but change the law. In any event, this discussion is beginning to verge on the political. I suggest we end it here. That's like blaming the police for the increase in crime. The broken system is what causes crime rates to rise and people to become homeless. We need to make the system more equitable for all instead of just to benefit the rich. Only then will crime rates get back under control.
