I love live theatre and especially musicals. I loved My Fair Lady recently, Guys and Dolls is a favourite. We will see The Lion King this summer.

For me seeing Les Miserables was the most overwhelming experience ever. I do not know how I didn't burst into tears at the sheer magnificence of the performance. I didn't know anything could be so noble and beautiful as that story, those voices.
So what for you stands out as the best ever stage performance?

Phantom of the Opera the first week it opened in 1986 at
Her Majesty’s Theatre in the Haymarket, London… with Sarah Brightman
as Christine and Michael Crawford as the Phantom.
Incredible set and I can’t believe that was 37 years ago!
I have yet to see it, we had to cancel during the pandemic.

It * was* incredible… saw it in Atlanta

Although not a whole musical, I did see the Pacific NW ballet replicate the “America” scene from West Side Story, which was wonderful

My 5 favorite (that I saw in the 70's and 80's) are My Fair Lady. I consider this to be the greatest musical of all. It has more great songs than any other musical. Oklahoma! (My own personal favorite), Fiddler on the Roof (I saw it with Zero Mostel playing Tevye), The King and I ( I saw it with Yul Brynner & Constance Towers in the lead roles), & West Side Story (loved this production).

Other musical that I saw on Broadway were, Grease, Godspell, Shenandoah, Beatlemania.

As a teenager I was obsessed with the musical A Chorus Line and am thankful I saw it in 1979, then again in 1989. Also saw Evita in the early 80s. I was with my mom and our seats were near the orchestra. Wow, what an experience that was, especially during Requiem for Evita.
