So very thankful that I have found this board. Seems like a fun place to be. Really hard to believe that here I sit on a forum for seniors (which I am) but inside I still feel like a mischievous teenager. My daughter, who is grown, moved back home after the loss of my husband several year ago and last week paid me the best compliment ever. Was minding my own business, listening to music when she came out of her room, and said "mom, I have never had a roommate as rowdy as you". I thanked her.
I hale from the Northeast but now reside in the Southest but after 20 plus years still can't call it home.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Temperance Welcome. There's all brands of us here but the one thing we share is we are all seniors (although a couple here just qualify).

Hi Temperance, lots of us are young at heart and mind here, you'll fit right in! Make yourself comfy!

Hope you stay on the forum Temperance, sure you will enjoy it. Are you from England?

A sincere thank you for the warm welcome.
No, not from England, but I wish I was. Have always longed to visit your country. Maybe one day.
I live in the United States, the southeast. Georgia to be exact. I'm a transplant from New York and miss it terribly, even after living down here for 20+ years.

Well hopefully one day you'll get to visit us here in the UK Temperance

What's the main difference between Georgia and New York ( apart from the temperatures) that you miss most?

Gee, where to start. New York............food, food and more food. The people. So easy to travel by mass transit if you wish. And believe it or not, I miss the northeast winters. Winter is my favorite season and though it is said we have the four seasons to me, only two. Fall and a very, very long summer and I hate the heat. When summer comes (sometimes even spring) I go into hibernation and stay in the air conditioning. Georgia is hot, hot, hot and then you must add the humidity.

I love the heat which is why I also own a house in a hot country on the continent ,. London has very similar temps to New York throughout the year...but I love the heat.

However when I lived in Spain for several years I desperately missed the 4 seasons... Autumn in the UK is spectacular and Southern Spain just doesn't have Autumn...I returned to the Uk to live but I still have my house in Spain so I visit whenever I get the chance

I've heard the people in the South of the USA are supposed to be more friendly than the north..don't you find that?

Do you think you'll ever be able to return to the NY area again? :)

Yes, visit New York as often as possible. Live there again? In a heartbeat, but really not sure I would be able to live as I do now, there. Pretty expensive.
I can only imagine what it's like in the UK during Autumn, my second favorite season, bet it is gorgeous. Love seeing photos of the green rolling hills, beautiful gardens and those quaint cottages. So lovely.
Sounds as if you heard the term "Southern Hospitality". No, haven't found that so. People are people no matter where you go. Some are extremely warm and others not so. Just depends I guess on the individual.
