Been lurking from time to time over the last few months and decided to join in. Live alone in the north metro Atlanta area and have been retired for a while. Looking at relocating. Been at same location for 30 years and it and I have changed such that it doesn't seem like a good fit-- lots of stairs (and I'm starting to get knee issues), needs work, congestion, different demographics and languages make me feel a bit isolated, etc. Trying to figure out what to do that makes sense within my means. Have done lots of hiking and backpacking in the past and hope to get out into the woods as much as I can. I still go for a 2 or 3 mile morning walk in local parks.

Welcome from Oregon. Glad you chimed in. There are so many things to consider when thinking of a move. Are you looking to live in a rural or city setting. What kind of climate do you seek? Hot places are getting hotter. Do you want to stay in Georgia? Is being close to good medical care a consideration?
 
Welcome here from Georgia. Been in North GA for over 30 years also. When we first moved here it was very rural (had a beautiful pasture that backed up to our backyard with lots of cows) but as you can guess, that is gone now. Atleast, they left a good tree line buffer and we really cannot see the "strip mall" they created. We have a two story house and have talked about how we are going to do the stairs as we get older. Guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it. My husband retired last year and I retired the end of April this year. I have no desire to drive anywhere close to Atlanta! Hate the Interstates! Hope you enjoy it here...lots of interesting people!
 
Many thanks for the welcoming. I'm still trying to sort through things on the location issues and haven't ruled much of anything out at this point. I have always figured that once I take a good look at things that where I am currently at may not look so bad after all, I figure it will be another adventure. :)
