Hey all, New to this forum and will be lurking for a while as I get to know it and some of the members.
I'll be 65 this year and looking for info on how to prepare for retirement (I know, I know..a bit late, eh?).
I have some 401Ks and other things but am not well off or maybe even well prepared, but we'll do the best we can.
If I had to paint a 'general' picture of what we're thinking about it would be the following:
1. We have kids and FINALLY a grandkid coming in September 2019, and they all live in Spokane, so we're going to want to be close by, but not necessarily in Spokane or WA., perhaps Post Falls or Coeur d'Alene.
2. I want to be a snow bird and the snowbird state being Florida as that's where I grew up and I still have a sister in Melbourne.
3. We have an older RV and that is what I want to use to travel during the cold months as I'm done with winter here.
3.5 Sell the big house we are currently living in.
4. So...that means we'll need a least a modest home here in or around Spokane (Post Falls or CDA) and of course 'hopefully' no mortgage or at the very least, a small one.
5. We are 'thinking' about buying a place in Melbourne, a mobile home in a place where you own the land, and then renting it out for 8 or 9 months out of the year and then living there 3 or 4 months (Jan - Mar..ish) IF that is even possible.
That's the 'general' plan, and to be honest I have no idea if it's even possible at this point. We do have a financial guy but haven't 100% communicated to him that this is what we want.
So that's enough for now.
I look forward to getting to know you folks and hearing and listening to what you have to say.
I think this can be a great time in our lives just like the previous years have been, I just need to get all the ducks in a row and start taking baby steps towards it.
Thanks in advance.
