Good Morning world, hope everyone had a safe and blessed Christmas. :)

I'm retired, live alone and have recently moved house to an area where I don't know anyone and with the current Covid situation, don't want to risk socialising out and about, so hoping to find some new friends online. Anyone else here from the UK ?

Hi Linda, thank you for the welcome, nice to meet you and I agree it is great to be able to chat to people all over the world from the comfort (and safety) of your own armchair (y)

As for the 'about me', nothing particularly exciting I'm afraid, I've been retired for several years, no family and no pets. I used to enjoy voluntary work, but covid situation has put a stop to that and socialising for the time being at least. I love nature and animals and the area I have moved to has some lovely 'nature walks' nearby which is great as I don't have a car, I'm also closer to the 'sea' than I was before.
 

Welcome to the forums Mandee. I'm in the forested region of the far northeastern US and share your love of nature.

My wife and I retired and moved to this area ... it must be about seven years ago now. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to adjust to a new location during times such as these. Please know that you're most welcome in these forums. I look forward to your future posts.
 
The North East covers a big area Mandee, is it impolite to ask: "Do you have a canny accent?" I'm a former Londoner now residing in The New Forest area. You will feel most welcome here. Don't be shy, just enjoy the company, it gets quite addictive.

mandee.. there's a lot of us in the UK on this forum...I've been here 8 years... :D..we have some in the North of England close to you.. in Wales & Scotland, and me here in the rural shires on the edge of North London...none from NI yet tho'....

I'm 66 ..that's me in the avatar....<<<<<<.. taken a few years ago..I took early retirement 4 years ago..
