Greg Wallace is the latest public execution

There is now a man being publicly ruined by women's accusations all the time in the news. I understand in certain cases it is justified, when real crime has been committed.
However, I feel uncomfortable about those men whose career is destroyed because they said things or joked, like men do. It's questionable behaviour of course, but that's how countless men just are. Usually, people just ignore it. If every man who cracked a coarse joke lost their job, it's a grim lookout.

I just feel it is all going too far. Is this just me?

While I would not like to see anyone's career destroyed just because they told a couple of unwise jokes, it appears that is not the case with regard to the man referred to in the thread header.

An employer has a duty to ensure that all their employees are respectful to each other and feel safe in their working environment. Reading the reports, there appears to have been repeated complaints about his behaviour which, reportedly, led to him being warned and, in some incidences, he apologised. It could be that he viewed his comments as "banter" and did not appreciate how uncomfortable it made his colleagues (in particular females) feel but if, even after being warned and apologising, he persisted in his behaviour then, it could be said, he is the author of his own misfortune.

In my opinion, which of course not everyone will share, ignoring inappropriate behaviour is no longer an option. It should not be difficult for people (man or woman) to understand that there are boundaries which need to be respected and, if you ignore those boundaries then you will, sooner or later, be held to account.

it's not a case of a few inapropriate ''jokes'' or sexual inuendo... how would you fel as a female if a man came into your workplace wearing nothing but a sock around his private parts and then simulated sex with you ?.. this is only one of hundeds of complaints made against him

I believe there is a line that should not be crossed, but where that is, I honestly am not sure. My silence is not approval. Lines are important to society. But getting society to agree on where they should be is hard. Right now my silence is just waiting for something we can agree on, or maybe disagree on. Throughout society there are ethical lines that apply in all situations including business, politics, economics, health and welfare, etc, etc, but someone will always be pushing the limits, sometimes with self righteous disregard.

He did that! I didn't know.

He should have been arrested and charged with a crime when the sock incident occurred. Powerful men think they can get away with demeaning women and worse and sadly often they can.
..agreed... !!

I'm no snowflake.. i don't take offence where none is intended..I worked in tv production, I know all the jokes that go on behind the camera... we all have to get along, ..

For example among the complaint made against Wallace is one from Rod stewart ( the singer).. who complained that Wallace critisised his wife's cooking when she appeared on the show... well that is Walalce's job.. he's there to critique and judge a cooking show... so that's snowfakery....

..but when somebody refers to the taste of your cooking as the same as his Old Aunt's private parts..or appears in the room wearing nothing but a sock... then actions have to be taken... and clearly they were not, until one complaint by his co-presenters wife, was taken seriously, and opened up the flood gates for others... and rightly so...

The clip on social media shows the co-presenter politely saying they could not eat it because she had used a whole raw egg rather than the yolks. I note that Rod Stewart's post said that the incident where Wallace bullied Penny was not aired so, there might have been more to it.

wow,he must have somin special just to wear a sock:)

I never heard of "Greg Wallace", so of course I have no personal evidence of any impropriety. But when there are 20+ people lined up, saying the same thing........ And it just isn't office banter.......
This doesn't seem to be the typical tabloid story about a celebrity having sex with someone 30 years ago, who now claims it wasn't consensual.

Actually, reading more that is coming out, I must concede that his behaviour was very out of order consistently and for a long time.

I always try to think the best of people but I certainly admit when I am mistaken or wrong.

The odd joke is usually ok but Greg Wallace sounds a nightmare to work with. I suppose fame and success go to some people's heads and they think they can act how they want. It's a shame.
