GROWL!, RANT. NewER Car Got It's First Scratches. Hit N Run

RANT, GRRRRRR..... . Newer 3 year old car got it's first major set of scratches, scrapes and/or scuffs from a hit run. Other than a couple of pencil point dings the body was in perfect condition. Probably from a landscaper trailer. 1/4 of front bumper scuffed up. If I don't go to jail for extracting somebody from the gene pool I'm debating wether to have it professionally repaired or buy a touch up pen and paint(Note, not a common color from auto stores, will probably have to go to dealer). The landscapers in question usually come Thur or Fri. My camera will be ready along with note pad and pen. Without proof I'm stuck but if they hit someone else the owner of the car will be informed by me.

My baby is turning into a used car.:upset:

I feel your pain...the %&*&^%^&* landscaper trucks, we grow the plant good but no how park truck...GRRRRRR, they knock over my curbside railroad ties. There's a guy who drives a private cab, same thing. Woe be unto you if one of these clowns tries to park by your car on the street. My car is a beater anyway, but really just about any parking lot isn't safe anymore.

Oh, I know just how you feel! People don't give a darn anymore. The dealers are expensive, if there are dents they will probably replace the part but it will look like new. I did a couple stupid things myself, ran over one of those curbs in a parking lot. Actually, it would have been less damage had I run over it--I hit the very edge of it, flattened my tire, bent the wheel. Didn't notice it dented that long piece that goes under the door to the rear fender. But when we do it, we can be mad at ourselves. To have someone hit and run, that would upset me too. But listen, it can be fixed so try not to let it bother you too much. Order one of those pens to keep on hand! ( I do have several dents and scratches done by others)

Sorry to hear that, maybe there'll be a trace of your paint color on their trailer and at least you can get them to pay for the repairs.

At a certain point of age and condition, People have to be thankful if they and their cars are still starting in the morning...

I have the usual small dings from shopping carts, the ones people refuse to put in the cart rack, but the most damage is lawn mower service with the mowers and weed eaters throwing little pebbles against the car. Then, when they are all done, along comes the guy with the noisy blower and blows more junk up against the car. One disadvantage of not having a garage.

That's why I like my old truck (1997). It's not a virgin anymore. Don't have to worry about scratching it. Hate the thought of getting a new one, but the time is coming, probably sooner rather than later.:(

it's just a tap

Update, first bodywork estimate $600, Had to order touch up paint from dealer at double the cost of auto stores. Checked height & shape on landscapers trailers and they don't match.

New evidence from next night indicate it 'could' be one of neighbors kids or friends that might have backed into my car. One of his sons was caught hitting someone else's car in the past. He admitted he just backs up until he "taps" what's behind him. Ironically, the father a CDL licensed driver has no problem with tighter spaces than the kids are dealing with.

Well, that's not too awfully bad. Like I said before, people just don't care anymore. They fly open the door without looking, bump into and pretend nothing happened. Shopping carts!! They have those returns all over but going ten feet is inconvenient. Aldis makes you pay for the use of the cart but it is refunded when you return it.

videos of parking lot hit and runs

As the thread states I'm ready to extract hit and run drivers from the gene pool. This is now a cause, a mission to shame these crap drivers and bring it the attention of the authorities and car owners. If I EVER catch someone doing this to anyone they better pray I'm only taking pictures

Some parking/parking lot hit and runs.

Do these people even know that even scratches and scrapes are an accident in the US and other places and leaving the scene of an accident is a crime. I don't care if they accept paint and body damage as normal it is wrong period. It's about damaging someone else's property. The drivers in the videos need their licenses revoked and need to be publically shamed and make public service announcements stating their actions were wrong.
