Anyone else heard of it ? Perhaps use it ? In the Musinex tabs there is 600 mg of the guaifenesin, it is an expectorant . But many have reported myalgia pain relief from using it. Some even say it helps with overall arthritis as well. The common dose seems to be 1200 MG , said to last 12 hours.

I take it, 400gm, 3-4 times a day to keep mucus loose. I have copd and anything that helps me breath better, I’m for it.

Never heard of taking it for pain. I can vouch it doesn’t help my back pain. 1200 mg in one shot seems like way too much.

Personally it doesn't agree with me. Ive tried taking it for post nasal drip & it released & liquified so much mucus I felt like I'm drowning.

While I was working to get my thyroid dx'd and endo touched around my throat and said your thyroid is fine but you have fibromyalgia...I said what is that, IT was 1999. He was pushing his remedy guiafensen and I chose not to go there. I understand there is a group who use it and the doctor is Paul StAmand...

Fibro is a basket of so much that has gone wrong including thryoid.

I did finally get thyroid supported and good there. If I have this fibro stuff, who knows.

I know my issues are arthritic. Wear and tear and aging.

Give it a try and see if it helps.

I just bought a bottle of the Walgreens brand of Guaifenesin 400mg tablets for chest congestion, I seem to have some congestion left over from my summer hay fever allergy. I've never used it for pain, but I prefer the 400mg, and take it as often as I feel I need it, I took one last night and just took another one.

I have heard about it online, people using it for fibromyalgia, gout and back and neck pain, something about it releases the uric acid that causes the pain. I would definitely try it for pain in the future if I need it, just to see if it helps.

Years back I bought some Source Naturals Magnesium Malate for an older friend of mine who really couldn't afford to buy any supplements, she had fibro. She said she really noticed the difference when taking it and did finish the bottle. She had a lot of other health issues at the time, so I urged her to check with her doctor first.

Her health kept declining, she had blood pressure issues and needed heart surgery and got a pace maker implant. She was on so many meds after that, she no longer took any supplements, only what her doctors gave her. This is the product if you're interested. https://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/source-naturals-magnesium-malate-1250-mg-180-tablets/sr-2132

Thanks, I'll look into it. My "pain" med for roughly the last three years has been indomethacin . But I think it is beginning to loose it's effect ? Some days I'll add two Tylenol in the evening but!....I try to keep meds to the minimum , and the the safest [side effects] .

rgp: Have you taken MSM and I have for many yrs for arthritic issues, it helps CALM the pain some. I take 1heaping tsp in 8 oz "clean" water in morning before breakfast and then again about 3PM or so...so that's about close to 15g or so, some people take up to 25g daily. Found out about this on a RA group board. Some work with capsules but I like the powder/crystals.

Then there is Celebrex which I've not taken due to possible side effects...I took a drug back in the 80's, Feldene and ended up with stomach ulcer and in ER.

I have not considered Indo...... that you mention as I too fear the side effects of these drugs.

Worry enough about ibuprofen I take.

Then there is Pain RX which I buy from Lucky Vitamin, it's helpful and take it in between the ibuprofen or often with it.

Aging, wear and tear is what has happened to me, and complications from hip replacement. j

Have tried MSM in capsules [no help] But no, not the powder. I'll look into it, thanks.

I take it faithfully for years, about to take my 3PM tsp. It helps some, but what really helps MOST....I haven't found anything but sleep and ibuprofen.

I'm not sure there is any MOST...:( I've tried just about everything, up to & including stem cell therapy, about 10 months ago..which is very costly , but desperation from pain will make one [me] keep trying.

Didn't you say you tried PRP also...I have not YET, and am seeing the PRP MD in Dec to talk about what he thinks to do some more Prolo (original form)...it's less money, but still a lot. If only insurance would come thru for this work.
