Guys: Do You Iron?

In the 90’s I had a dry cleaning service that would pick up all my white pinpoint cotton stress shirts on Fridays and hang them on our front door by 7am on Monday mornings. My gosh, how things have changed.
Since I am a country boy and only wear plaid flannel shirts and never iron them, what the heck is a white pinpoint cotton stress shirt?

I iron my shirts, which makes them look a lot better when worn. Thrift shops are full of men's shirts apparently cast off because they wrinkle terribly in the wash. My used "designer labels" were bought cheaply, and touch up nicely with a little ironing. I don't enjoy ironing, but it pays its dividends...plus if Tony Stark does it, why not I?

I hardly ever iron anymore....But a little story about my younger brother...he is 65....So they come to our little cottage for 4 days....
One morning he came in the kitchen and asked where my iron was....I laughed!!!! I told him I don't Iron!!!! He said how to you get
your clothes not wrinkle....I told him many shirts and pants don't need to be ironed....Just hang up your clothing in the closet and
the clothing will look like they were ironed....anyway, most clothing don't have to be ironed, When I put my husband's shirts and pants
in the washing machine and the dryer...They come out without wrinkled shirts....I showed him my husband's shirts in the closet, how neat
they were without ironing....He said he will buy me an Iron this Christmas....I don't need another Iron!!!!!

I learned how to iron from my mom when I was in high school. I was home alone one day and was going to go to a friend’s afternoon birthday party. I wanted to wear this special shirt, but it was wrinkled to the hilt. I had watched my mom iron dozens of time, so I thought that I would give it a try. It took me awhile, but I got it looking “good enough.”

When I got home later and my mom was also home, I asked her if she would teach me. At first, she was surprised, but she agreed to do it. It took me a few times, but I did get the hang of it. Then, when I went into the military, we had to iron there and I was prepared. No problem. Guys offered me money to do their ironing. Sorry, I’m no maid.

I remember my mom ironing everything, even sheets, hankies, pillowcases, etc. Unbelievable. Does anyone do that today?
I always iron my cotton shirts, I remember ironing my husbands jeans once n put a nice sharp crease up the legs, well I never did that again!! You would have thought I committed a crime!! 🤣🤣

I don't anymore, except on some rare occasion. If the dryer can't smooth it out, I don't wear it. I did plenty of ironing as a teen and young adult, and no thanks!! It's such a pain, and I'm a klutz and usually get burned.

I used to do a little ironing when I was a teenager. My mother was left handed and so I ironed with the ironing board in the left hand position...always have. I married a girl who is left handed but her mother was right handed and she learned to iron that way. So now, the right handed guy irons left and the left handed girl irons right.
