H1N1 epidemic in the states ....

Yes. I used to have one for work, then stopped when I retired, and got flu; stayed in bed for 10 days, and although I knew I wasn't going to die......I felt AWFUL, and in the end just wanted my Mummy!
so I had one again this year...

I haven't gotten the flu since I don't know when and I'm a little weary of the shot but was almost tempted to get it when I volunteered at the hospital here but it wasn't required so I didn't.

So far I've been lucky.

I don't get flu shots anymore, and haven't for many years. Also, haven't gotten the flu since I was younger and was taking those annual poison shots.

I didn't get a flu shot after getting one and getting a severe case of the flu years ago. However, I have after I turned 60. You cannot get the flu from the shot any more. It does not protect you from all strains, but the main one for that year. I just feel at this point in my life it is better to take it.

Had the flu for a few days about 20 years ago. Even my hair hurt ! But it went away all by itself.

But I never have had a flu shot. HATE those freakin' needles.

it's not that I'm afraid of shots...I'm not but afraid of a bad reaction and I really don't have anything to base that on.

I have a Jan. 20 drs appt and may ask her about it then.

I worked through the last pandemic a few years ago.half the population panicked, and we're given Tamiflu regardless...which isn't a cure-all at all; and so that they could spread the flu better, they came in and collected it themselves!
i'm not sure it helped a lot, but it did cost the taxpayer a lot....

Haven't had a flu shot since I was in grade school. Don't trust them or the medical establishment that created them.

I get a cold perhaps once a year, if that. I don't get cluster headaches, varicose veins, high blood pressure, yeast infections, ED, fainting spells or sudden, unexplained emotional outbursts, so I don't need pills and potions.

I have gotten flu shots since the 1950s. I missed a couple or three years in the late 50s or early sixties. If they're available, I get them.
