Had EMDR session today

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
brought up several focus scenarios, was asked what message would I relay to younger self about the topics covered. I had nothing but sarcasm regarding lack of parental love or their ability to love.

EMDR is interesting and very much a mind trip, I’ve had 2 sessions now after the 1st session I was not depressed the entire week. I don’t what the next 7 days will bring I usually continue working my between sessions, who knows what thoughts are to be revealed?

I wish you the best of luck & hope the sessions do what they are intended to do.

FOR LAYPEOPLE

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

I’ve heard so many good things about this. I’d love to try it for my anxiety.

I started with TMS treatments everyday except weekends 36 sessions in all. The EMDR is a continuation of the former. After each session my thought processing ability improves with increased accuracy and with less hesitation. Now I say what I think not thinking about what to say. This tends to get me trouble, but at least I’m honest.

Never heard of this before. There are some good testimonials here so far. This is something I'd like to learn more about.

Edit: Reading more about it right now. It's actually a credible form of therapy. I'm usually up on this stuff. Don't know how I missed it.

I've heard of EMDR in my group sessions but what do the letters stand for and what is it. I am doing Luminosity app right now and it helps me be conscious of my own body and how it responds to whatever is going on at the moment. I don't have depression, but live with a husband who has bad mood swings.
