Someone didn't really think that through, or am I mistaken?
My understanding is that psychopaths are born while sociopaths are formed.
I found this:
research suggests that the core, precipitating features of psychopathy are developmental in nature, with relatively persistent traits becoming apparent before the age of 10; furthermore, it seems these traits are predicated by significant genetic risk factor Psychopathy: Developmental Perspectives and their Implications for Treatment - PMC

About Sociopaths:
"Sociopath" is an outdated, informal term for Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), a mental condition characterized by a disregard for others' rights and feelings, a lack of empathy and remorse, and a persistent pattern of antisocial behavior, including manipulation and deceit. While the term carries stigma, many individuals with ASPD do not become criminals but are still prone to poor impulse control and destructive actions. Causes of ASPD are thought to involve both genetic factors and environmental influences like childhood trauma or unstable environments.

I've read that many management and executive positions are filled with sociopaths.
