I don't hand out treats or decorate, but I like to look at the graphics.
I was looking at Halloween candy in the store today and didn't see a bag assortment less than $11.99. I wouldn't spend that much on myself, so I'm not going to just to give away to some kid who's going to swap it or toss it when they get home. Of course they jack up the prices around holidays like everything else. When November 1st rolls around, you can get it a lot less expensive.
Another thing is if some kid gets hurt or poisoned by tainted candy, I can't get blamed.
I'm not a "poor sport" really! I just don't like evil stuff presented as fun. (Yes, many Halloween graphics are very artistic) Once when my daughter was I think ten years old, her Sunday school teacher had his class sit in a circle in the dark (in the church basement) & pass around something slimy and round claiming it was an eyeball. She knew better & wasn't creeped out. but yuck.
This thread has made me remember one of the Halloweens when I was a kid... probably pre-teen or early teen. My church had a youth group costume party. We bobbed for apples, ate lots of food, had a great time. Well anyhow, I won a prize for the scariest costume... I won a diary. BUT maybe someone can tell me why I thought it was a good idea to go to a church event dressed as.... the *devil!*
