Happened one scary Halloween!

You could tell by the way Don talked and acted that he was a city type of guy.
I always liked listening to him tell about things that happened before they moved down to our one horse town.
He said he was laying on the couch one Halloween and his Son was handing out candy at the door when his Son yelled Dad!
Don looked up to see some guy who had pushed past his Son.
Don picked up the pistol he had laying on his coffee table and told the thug to leave which he did but when this low life reached the street he turned and threw a rock through Don’s window.
I’m sure there were other reasons why Don moved his family out of the city but this was one he didn’t mind telling me about.
I think about what Don told me every year when people come to our door on Halloween.

Wow, that is scary, GP! Luckily, the only thing that's happened to us on Halloween was cute rather than scary, one year, when I opened the door to one trick or treater, he could hear that Huzz had the World Series on on the Tv and hollered over to him, "Hey, Mister! What's the score?" :)

We attached a pvc pipe chute to the handrail on the porch and have been using it to send candy down to the trick or treaters. Some people get a big kick out of that.
Saves little kids stumbling up the steps and we don’t have to make close contact with people.
One kid asked if we would send more down the chute for his sister who had to stay home with the flu.
We started using the pipe chute the year that Covid was going around.
We store the pipe chute on the back porch the rest of the year so we wondered if it had any genuine Halloween spiders in it when we sent the first candy down.
