David's well used original C language book he received in the 1980's at a company training class while working for a UNIX computer hardware corporation.

Here's my Unix book. It's not quite so old. As you can see, it's barely used. When the internet was young, you needed to know a little Unix.

Recall seeing that Dummies book during that era. Note the above original C Language book was published in 1978.

The original Bell Labs UNIX book was a 1971 book with the below David's again well used and battered second edition 1983 version I used mid 1980's when we worked engineering-wise from a central DEC VAX computer system.

Before I learned to code in C or use UNIX, I manually programmed earliest processor circuit boards start-operational code within RAM with numerical machine assembly language. Over decades, I learned little about technologies by going to formal classes and seminars but rather by reading books like these including myriad component databooks. A reading and comprehension skill few others had.
