Not a Canadian, but from my point of view I am pretty optimistic about where Canada is headed. Y'all are smart folks with a mostly good track record. I think it will continue.

When I lived in Detroit in the 50's and 60's, we used to go across the Detroit River to Windsor Ontario to help them celebrate. There were also barges with fireworks on the river for both the 1st and the 4th.

The tradition is still on. Ford Motor Co. sponsors it now. Joint celebration between USA and Canada. A big night to show the friendship between out two great countries.
