I lived in Detroit and the combined (Detroit and Windsor, Canada) "Freedom Day" fireworks were spectacular. One year, there were 7 barges in the Detroit River shooting off fireworks for 4 hours. At that time, it was the largest fireworks display in history.
We watched it from the top of the Cobo Hall parking garage and I was effectively deaf for 2 days.
