Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War.

Ole!

Except maybe to him.

Cinco de Mayo was originally a Mexican American holiday. First celebrated by the Mexican community in California after California became a US state. I enjoy it! Cinco de Mayo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayo
I was raised in CA and it was a big deal there. We never celebrated, but it was fun to observe the festivities.

(Dia de Los Muertos is another wonderful, beautiful holiday, which we do celebrate).

I do my best to celebrate most any holiday, why not?

I was in Mexico once for Dia de Los Muertos, the graveyard decorations were impressive.

Well, I'm jealous. That must have been amazing.

I don't want to derail this wonderful thread, but yeah, Dia de los Muertos is a beautiful holiday. We only started celebrating about five years ago, but I do wish we'd started sooner.

Have you seen the Pixar movie, "Coco?" I've just recently watched that and it was really sweet.
