I have to add that I think it's so impressive that you broke the cycle of your own unhappy childhood and clearly provided your daughter with a happy one. That's incredibly difficult to do. So often those cycles repeat through generations. Kudos to you. :)
Oh, that's very kind of you... I really , really tried my best. I ddn't have anyone to guide me, my mother had died 3 years before I gave birth, my sisters all younger, so I just had to make it up as I went along.. no computers in those days to tell us what to do... so all I did was the opposite of what I knew my parents would have done...that's all I could think to do...

I was alone with her most of the time.. we lived in Naval married quarters far from his relatives... and my siblings.. and her father was at sea with the Navy for up to 7 months of the year during her first 3 years...

Well from what you've been saying about your own daughter and your life, you've broken the cycle and have been doing good!

ALL BRITISH MOTHERS???????????????????? INCLUDING THE BAD ONES??
They could do what I did- I've never been a hypocrite, couldn't have brought myself to give/send her those flowery loving greeting cards, so when I was present I gave her handmade cards and when I was in other locations I called her.

Just curious, because you're on this forum so much. Are you a member of any online UK seniors groups and do you enjoy them?
yes I have been a member of British forums, in fact I was a moderator of 2.... but I found this forum, and the members here when I joined were much nicer ... so I stayed and that was over 12 years ago.

I'm still a member of one British forum but I rarely post there now
