First of all, I don’t have a Regions account.
But even if I did, I know for certain that NO bank or financial institution would contact me to”confirm my details” online this way.

The couple times an account has been compromised I spent some considerable amount of time ON THE PHONE with my bank or credit card company proving who I was before there was any discussion about my account.

My daughter has received similar texts. So have a couple friends.

The scammers are getting more and more sophisticated, and I’ve even had a couple clients call me, frantic that their computer has been hacked and they needed to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to the “company” who detected the hack and plastered messages all over the client’s computer to send money immediately.

Who else has been on the receipt end of these attempted scams?

I get maybe one a week. I ignore them now.

A while ago I got one that said I was entitled to a refund from my cell phone company. I clicked and started filling in the fields. I soon realized that they were asking me for all my banking info, including passwords! So I got out of there.

I had indeed given them some of the info, so I changed my bank passwords right away.

Sounds stupid on my part. But we're always being asked intrusive questions by the government, employers, landlords, etc. So it seemed pretty normal. Until I asked myself why they needed to know about more than one bank account.

I recently had my identity stolen in the Equifax breach. Just last year I had to spend hours on the phone with different banks where someone had opened checking accounts in my name. It is getting scary out there. I am fortunate that I spotted those things right away and reported them to the appropriate agencies. Just today I received another debit card that I didn't apply for and had to report it. I haven't received any of those emails mentioned in this post, but the scammers are busy 24/7!

At least five years ago there was a large breach that fortunately didn't affect our credit. Even so, as a precautionary measure my husband and I froze our credit with the big three credit reporting agencies. It was neither difficult nor convoluted to do so, and cost us nothing.

In all that time we needed to unfreeze our credit one time, with just one of those agencies, and for just a few days. Can't remember why, but it was very simple to unfreeze and refreeze. No cost to us.

They mass send them have had many many for banks/ credit unions i have never done business with they hope someone in a hurry clicks on link ........so simple and yes even people who know better do sometimes click...
they do this with your Amazon delivery / ups delivery/ fed -ex etc because they KNOW a certain # of people will click before thinking that is all they want .......... they may be able to backdoor on your phone etc and steal whatever thing they can
saw on another site people ... starting thread like "just for fun... what is your pets name" ........ i laughed and laughed as this is one way to guess passwords etc and loads of people happy to talk about their pet comply........

My flip phone receives texts. I don't know if I've got this particular one. I get the Amazon and I got a Paypal e mail one the other day. I don't open them. Straight to delete.

As always, they are looking for the ones that will believe it. And it happens. I used to get phone messages on my old flip phone that the police were coming due to my not paying taxes or whatever. Have my taxes done professionally every year.

I just got one from the IMF telling me I was going to be rfeunded money lost to scammers. Just give us your personal info NOT!

Yes, I get these a lot. I just block the number and delete them. There’s so much spam these days.
