I had mine keyed about 4 years ago, while it was parked out front... they keyed all the cars in my road.. bunch of vandals, and of course the knock on effect for most people is not only the inconvenience of having it repaired bu it affects Insurance premiums..

Watch this Video where a guy gets caught after keying high end cars in a Supermarket car park ...

I've never had a car keyed, but I have had hit & runs.
One lady hit me from behind & as I pulled over to get into, she went around me & tried to take off. She stopped 10 blocks later when she realized I got her license plate number. When we stopped, she actually said, "I would have stopped, but I didn't know I hit you."
I said, "Then why did you speed away?" She had no insurance & she smelled like a brewery.

Yes, I have a new car keyed.
Also had people do Door Dings pretty bad and leave.
Also had Parking Lot damage done and the car left.

It is frustrating to try and keep a vehicle in good condition - but I still do it....

People can be so selfish and unethical !

that's so true.. jealousy plays a great part in having upmarket vehicles keyed..

I've never had it done. I don't understand why people do these things! This dumb a*s woman was caught keying a Tesla...a Tesla of all cars! She was prosecuted.

But the odd thing is she's not the only one. I recently saw a video of an elderly lady with short gray hair who keyed a Tesla in a parking lot. It was on Facebook, I think and I can't find it now. What...do they hate Elon Musk?

Thankfully, I never had gouging damage, but.............
This is one of the hub caps on my vintage MG. Note
the red background. Two of my hub caps have a black
background, that's because they are replacements for
the ones that became someone's souvenir. I mean, you
can't go to a classic car show and not come home
without a souvenir, can you?

Yes, in the early 80s when I was out clubbing.

In this area, it is more common for thieves to break out a window and steal whatever they can find.

I'm fortunate to have an indoor parking space, but even the garage has had some problems with prowlers.

If you look at the video I posted in the OP..you will see that it was a Tesla which was keyed...

Years ago, we had a new Corvette and it got keyed...probably kids that were jealous. Hub used to park
slant wise into spaces to also keep people from slamming the doors into it.

Moral of the story...only drive old cars?!

Just two years ago, I was sitting in my car waiting for my wife to come out of a department store when I witnessed two girls key a new or fairly new Camaro two rows in front of me. At first I didn’t know what they were doing, but when the one girl did the left front fender, I knew what they were up to.

About 10 minutes later a young girl game out of the store and I approached her and told her what I had witnessed. I asked her to call the police, which she did. The cop asked me if I could describe the girls. I told him that I could do better than that. I had turned my dash cam on and we had pretty good pictures, which the owner of the Camaro immediately recognized the girls. Crime solved.

Actually, around here parking diagonally will generally get any car keyed. People take that as you being a member of the elite class. I seldom park my Corvette in a parking lot and if I do, I park it far away from the front of the store where no one else is parked and I leave the dash cam turned on. We have dash cams in all three of our vehicles.

Not keyed but over a period of a few weeks, I had most of the panels on my car dented, bonnet, boot and quarters by someone kicking them in. I called the police but they had no idea why this should have happened.

I found out a couple of years later the reason. One of my neighbours had been complaining to the Housing Association about another neighbour and they thought it was me complaining.

I have a camera now.

Parking slant wise is very annoying and takes up too much space. That's probably why you got keyed, not from jealousy.

Had a car that was egged during freezing temps, my whole windshield. Really hard to get off. I knew who did it, so I put a lock on my gas cap so she couldn't pour sugar in my tank. When her boyfriend threw fire crackers on my balcony I got them evicted. Had running feud with these jokers.

Someone stole the Vintage collectible AA badge from my o/h's vintage camper.. The thing is they didn't just take it off, they used a screwdriver or sharp implement to prise it off .. and left a hole the size of a tennis ball in the bodywork

Had an incident like this, did a citizen's arrest & turned her over to a Sheriff's deputy who hooked her up and carted off to jail.

It was a Sunday morning, I guess she was just taking Communion a bit early... 😅

Wrong moral.
'tis true, you can't live your life not enjoying things because other people are eaten up by jealousy.. however tbf if one lives in a high crime area it would be extremely foolish to park a Maserati outside... in which case an old cheap runaround would prevent a lot of the expense of repair or theft

Often times, people do these things to feel they're putting the expensive car's owner on the same level (financially) as they are.
"I can't afford an expensive car like yours, so I'll make your car less valuable; now you're no better than I am."

Several months after i started working at UW my ex-DH came into HR to fill out an application. Couldn't prove it was him, but pretty sure. I kind of laughed, as my ex he should have known i care more about function than form. After he was hired, he kept turning up in the building i worked in and some times outside when i was doing daily trip to payroll across campus(done close to same time every day). This was 2+ yrs after divorce.

I talked to my supervisor, who asked HR Director to inquire if he had a legit work reason to be in our building. If so i wouldn't be concerned. He didn't and his supervisor had been having trouble finding him, so we solved both our problems, the stalking behavior stopped. Started again 5 yrs later. I got a restraining.order.
