Has anyone had their teeth whitened

This topic came up with my hairdresser today. (We were talking about Costco, not Pecos‘ teeth.) She said she swears by Colgate Advanced Whitening toothpaste, the one in the red package.
 
I had embarrassingly dingy colored teeth and I used the OTC whitening strips (the Crest brand). They didn't make my teeth sensitive and you just stop if you feel you've gotten your teeth white enough before the number of days the package says to repeat. I found that after the first time when I used them according to the number of days on the package, after that I would just do one or two days a few times a year to whiten back up.
 

I never did. One reason is because I had to have several of my upper teeth replaced when I was just in my 20's. My upper teeth were extremely soft and broke off easily. The dentist did an expensive and apparently mind boggling procedure (even to other dentists) whereby a bridge and crowns were connected. Other dentists I visited afterward were awed by the procedure. Anyway, once those, which were chosen to match the color of my natural teeth, were in place, there was no use in whitening the bottom teeth if the same couldn't be done for the bridge/crowns.

Years back I used Crest White Strips a couple of times, they worked very well, but were a hassle to use and the sensitivity was the thing that made me stop. I've used peroxide, baking soda, coconut oil or a combo of those things in the past, and didn't notice any improvement. My dentist has whitening too, but I'll pass. I imagine it's not great for senior teeth and not worth the expense and possible sensitivity. A girl I used to work with had teeth that almost looked blue, from over-whitening. Vanity pushes some over the edge. :D
