Has Anyone Had To change Their Avatar?

I changed my Avatar (is that what you call it?) because someone else on this forum has the same Avatar. I don't want to put words in their mouth, and I don't want them to put words in my mouth. Has anyone else ever had this come up?

yes if you use a generic picture of an avatar, or a celebrity..or cartoon.. the chances are someone will have the same. if you mean someone had a picture of YOU personally as their avatar, then that's concerning....

Most of us on the forum change our avatars on a fairly regular basis.... Nice to see you personally in your pic tho' TeePee..(y)

Actually, I probably stated it wrong. Someone had my name that goes with the Avatar. Some else had TeePee as a name.
 

(Avatar is the picture and Name or ID is the name.)

I've never seen where someone had to change their ID because someone else was using it. I could be wrong, but, when people create an account, I think they get a message if they choose an ID that's already in use, and they have to think up a new one, or spell it differently, or add a character or space or whatever.

Is that what happened?

I'm not sure what happened, but someone responded to post that a "TeePee" posted and it showed up on my feed. It was something I had not posted. Just to be safe, I just changed the Avatar (if that's what you call it.). I wanted to make sure I didn't put words in someone else's mouth or they didn't put words in mine. Maybe it was a computer glitch, who knows.
 
Not sure what happened there... but you are definitely the only "TeePee" here. As for the avatar, when someone joins and doesn't upload their own desired avatar, they're given one with a letter in it... usually first letter of their member name. Yours would have probably been a "T"... is that what you mean? Because if so, yes, if someone named Terrestrial joins and doesn't upload an avatar, they'd get a "T" as well. You seem to be good now... any other issues with that? And welcome to the forum! (y)

I see. No biggie, then.

Normally, when someone replies to a comment you posted, the notification will read "[so-and-so] replied to your post."

Your user name won't be there...it won't say "replied to a post that a TeePee posted," it will say "replied to your post."
So, you might have misread it. I've done that...a number of times.


Again, TeePee is your ID or user-name, and the Avatar is the little round image above your user-name.
My Avatar is that little photo of my smooth, shiny head. (which will soon turn into a pumpkin)
MurrMurr is my user name or ID. (but you can call me Frank)

they can't .... on the very odd occasion Admin will allow a name change. but here has to be a genuine reason for it. There is no other person nor has there ever been another member here with the name @TeePee

Like I say I realise what's probably happened, is that someone has quoted her post , and with her name highlighted she would get notification of the post... and to a newbie, it would look like someone ese is using the same name,,

I absolutely believe that's what's hapoened.. so as you can see in my example above.. when someone wants to call your attention to a post they will highlight your name like this @TeePee ..and then you will get a notification of the post... up above on the right where the little bell is... when you click on it.. this post will come up for you to view...

I understood your reply to TeePee. I was replying to Marcy Sheiner who simply asked if we could change our name.
