Has Anyone Participated In A Sleep Study (Or Know Someone Who Has)?

I have known a few that have done it. I would never do one, simply because I would not sleep a wink in such a study! I know what I need for sleep and I get my sleep. Pitch black, dead quiet but with an audio program set to turn off in 30 minutes, and a cold room (60f or less) with just the right sheets, blankets, and my adjustable pillow. And that lab setting definitely ain’t it!

I heard on a local radio show this morning they have a special pillow that is designed for side sleepers with a cpap machine

Yes that is correct. I have improvised by using a narrow travel sleep foam pillow like this that allows the gear to swing free when lying on either side because of it's narrow width and straight sides. pillow2.jpeg

My husband had sleep apnea but wouldn't confront it. It was not as talked about back then. I finally moved to a guest bedroom because the pauses were so scary. They eventually set him up for a sleep study but he died before the time of the appointment.
I am sorry to hear of your Husband's death. But, it does back up my previous comment, about how many people suddenly die, due to not having a CPAP machine. Every time the person stops breathing, during sleep, there is an increased possibility that their heart will stop functioning.

I spent ten years working for the largest Ambulance service in Canada. I also have sleep apnea, which is well controlled by my CPAP machine. Those 2 factors in fluence my strong and ongoing support for sleep studies, and the use of CPAP or BIPAP machines. JIMB>
