Has anyone tried to grow an air plant?

I was in Home Depot the other day and came across a display of air plants. They were in the most beautiful glass containers. Me being me,I checked out the marked down plants. There is nothing I like better than to buy a half dead plant and try and nurse it back to health.
They had more half dead air plants than healthy ones.

Of course I bought one. Researching it online I noticed they need more care than a new born baby. I had a nice little clay pot my Mom had given me years ago with a cactus in it. I've always wanted to use it again and it seemed perfect for this little plant.

Seems like you need to soak it over night once a week also. I gave it a swig of weak Miracle grow. It needs dampness but air that circulates and filtered sun. I think I've met the requirements. We will see.

Spanish moss is an air plant, it grows on all the big oak trees around here.

Spanish moss ... I believe we bought some about 45 years ago at a Franks Nursery & Crafts store in Michigan. I think they had taken chunks of Spanish moss, painted them green, and they were selling as "air plants". We put it in a cute little wicker birdcage and misted it with water once a day for months. Well, it made a nice story for visitors. On reflection, it was probably dead when we bought it. When we finally took it out to throw away, it crumbled to dust.

I don't even pretend that I could grow one. My husband has the green thumb. He could probably breathe on it and it would produce babies.
