Have another UTI again

Just did an in home test strip and it turned bright PINK. Back during lockdown, I was getting them every few weeks. I just had one back in Early January. I would say I have had 3 or 4 in the last year. I mean, I clean after every bathroom visit...I even have a bidet. And will still wipe down with a baby wipe type cloth for adults.
So, I hope they will call me in a prescription. I have a routine appointment with my doctor at the end of this month...but I do not want to wait that long.

Marie, the doctor will give you a prescription now and at the next visit ask him for another to have on hand for times like this. Maybe ask him for a different prescription. I was using one thing and it was becoming less effective. The new meds worked better.

Oh dear Marie, be very careful, my brother got one last May
and he ended up in Hospital, lost his memory, didn't recognise
his own son, etc., etc., get on the phone now and get a prescription,
does your pharmacy not have authority to re-issue and drugs that
you have already had? they can do that here, at least in my local area
but I don't know if it is general.

Mike.

@Marie5656 I used to be plagued with UTIs constantly. I tried changing laundry detergents, TP, bath soap, wipes, I bought different underwear (100% cotton) all of which did nothing.

Finally my urologist suggested a low dose antibiotic that I could take for a day or two, every time I felt a UTI coming in. It worked like magic! I haven’t had a full blown UTI in 7 years! I’ve never in my life gone that long without one!

I like the idea that my system isn’t being bombarded with high doses of antibiotics off and on all year, and that a much lower dose for a day or two will prevent the UTI from ever taking hold. You might want to consider talking to your doc about that approach?

Hope you get your prescription filled quickly! UTIs are miserable. 🥴

Dear Marie,
I hope your prescription will help you fight this infection.
I have been suffering from recurrent UTIs for 20 years now. It has been a nightmare without going into details and boring you to death with my problems, I would simply advise you to see a specialist. If you can, go see a urogynecologist.(if you have one in your area.)
In the meantime, I would also suggest that when you have an infection, go see your doctor. Give him/her a urine sample and ask for them to get a culture. (Very important to identify the bacteria so they can give you the appropriate antibiotic.)
You also need to stay on the antibiotic for about 9 days.
These are the first steps that I take. Let the specialist decide the future course.
Good luck to you, Marie. I hope it all goes well.

I Definitely would not want to wait even a week or two.
Sorry you've got another, Marie.
Do they call in the same script every time or have they tried another one?

Oh, that's interesting, Jules.
I read this post of yours, after I wrote mine above, where I had wondered if trying a different script this time, might be good.

It's a shame that we often realize these things on a weekend, or on a Friday, like I think that you did, Marie.

The 3 or 4 times UTI is excessive, it's time to seek a specialist, Urologist.
I had quite a often in my 20's and 30's. First, I went to GP, but he recommended to go to Urologist.
In my early 30's, the first Urologist did a surgery, widening my tube/urethra. But UTI came back one year and a half years later. I went a second Urologist, the same procedure and afterwards, I never got UTI.
It's a painful procedure to recall, but recent modern and technological medical procedure, Surgery may not be painful as had mine.
Also, recalling 'Love-making' after child-birth aggrevated or triggered UTI, in my case tho'.

I am home now. The new med is called Nitrofuranton. That is a mouthful. She looked at my chart and said I had been on it in the past. So, we will see.
That’s the same drug I took last month Marie. Worked really good. I’ve been getting UTIs since my TURP operation a few years back. Was fine until then. Good luck with the new med.

@Amanda76 Good point, I am seeing my primary doctor in a couple weeks for a routine visit. I will discuss this with her
Love-making, in my experience a big issue if you're prone to get UTI.
Nowadays, even some folks, in their 80's(majority seems men) love to have physical intimacy.
Any contact to our private area(female anatomy) is trigger to UTI, even we are careful to all of hygiene.
Hopefully, you'd find an expert Urologist soon!!

Wear cotton everything...nothing tight or polyester .... take no baths, only showers and stop using the baby wipe completely. Keep nothing near the area that retains moisture. Try not to leave the area moist during the day. I have had one in my life 25 yrs ago and it was due to a natural soap I had used. Moisture or dampness trap bacteria and keep the cycle going. Also chnge to a unscented etc laundry and use no softeners. What I am saying is go natural. These things I've mentioned are the worst things we do as women to our bodies. Did I mention no talc or othet powders? Good luck, hope the meds work. If you do need to do the surgery it will help. Be well.

:) Hi Marie. I think one of the signs of aging is fallen intestines/organs, or at least some concession to gravity. Maybe kegels might help UTIs, or just generally increasing muscular health. Anyway, it can't hurt.
And pros are saying, too much walking, too much weightlifting. Maybe substitute some of those with quality pool work or taichi.
