Have We Begun Our Holiday Shopping?

I usually collect meaningful things year round. Then you're always set for birthdays or December. I have a leaf bag in an upstairs closet. I'm about to begin another. Just silly things or perfect picks...my daughter saw a Grumpy Cat stuffy a few months ago. I told her I'm not spending twenty bucks on another stuffed toy. You know I was there grabbing it the next day.

Today I found two perfect gifts. One is a five dollar jar from Target. It says " Treats from Santa Paws". I'll fill it and put it in best buddie's goodie bag for his two pups. The other was free in the used library stacks. An almost new hardcover of the history of "Fiddler on the Roof". My Dad's partner is Jewish and adores Broadway shows, I know he'll read it cover to cover:D How about you? Do you wait till the last minute or start on holiday sales the year before?

For me, Christmas shopping is on going. There have been years when I have bought a gift right after Christmas for the following year. A couple of times I have been lucky enough to find two gifts at the same time for the same person. I put one away for the following year. This year I began very early making a family photo album for my cousin who is more like a brother to me. It took quite awhile picking out just the right photos. Another reason is the fact that I hate the crowds, traffic, and all that rushing around. I get so stressed out that it turns me into a real Grinch.

A little bit of both. Now I have my Philly to shop for, and my son/DIL are back on the Island, I am having so much fun. Looking forward to seeing my boy etc, and sending the Italian lots of prezzies and Xmas food. Parcel for my kids also. Philly is getting homemade wool camo boot socks, thermal socks, winter shirt etc for the wilds of PA where they have snow (brrr.) my kids

spent three years in Winnipeg, so don't need clothes now they are home again. Bought Belgian chocolates from local chocolatier, marzipan, nuts. Next will be dried fruit. Stocking stuffers etc. I have small cross stitch Santa tree ornaments which each hold a Hersey's kiss. Son is bugging me to make Xmas baking plates.

Wow, Shali you're ahead of me. I did just get a great mail coupon from Duluth Trading. Bargains for my husband and sons.

Wow....lots of unique gifts mentioned here, last year I bought my 8 year old granddaughter
a new jewelry box and filled it with some of my old costume jewelry...it was a big hit....this year I;m drawing a blank on everyone...I have not even started, not one gift.

I haven't had to do Christmas shopping for years. There is only myself, my sister and my elderly mother. All of us agreed some years ago that we don't need or expect Christmas presents anymore.

Mom gives us both some money and we all spend the day together.

I like it better that way. Even without the money.

We ordered the last of this years presents for all the little great grandkids online this morning...everything should be here within the next week. We all gather for Thanksgiving, and the adults put their name and Christmas wish in a hat, and we all draw a name, and get one gift for one person, with about a $50 limit....makes the holiday shopping a lot simpler.

I started Christmas shopping last week and got some of the things delivered today. I did online shopping. I still have to find out which one of my nieces is going to be in town for Christmas and if my nephew will be. I have to know where they will be so I can get their gifts to them.

Well, with a new baby in the family......YES! I did a lot of shopping when I was up in Ohio last weekend, so I won't have to mail stuff. A soft baby doll, stacking toys, a play piano, play mat, Christmas stocking, soft blocks, a pop-up toy, and a bunch of other stuff.

I still have to shop for the little ones here in town (9 months and 3 1/2 years). With three sets of grandparents, they have so much already and the little one has all the bigger one's old toys.

My family has also agreed for years not to exchange gifts, either. Easier, and you don't get stuff you don't want or need.

I get gently used books for niece's kids, new and used stuff for grand-son and something meaningful for oldest boy and DIL. Christmas morning is husband, youngest girl and younger son...oh and dawgs n' cats.

We tend to buy things over the year (especially if we're abroad) for Xmas, birthdays etc.. It's getting harder as the children have grown and flown - and we've become more cynical about the whole commercial thing.

Don't need to get any hardware, just food.

I've tried buying that early and I usually find I've eaten it all by 15 December!

Thank Heaven for Amazon Grocery!

I don't do much holiday shopping, but I do like to create a custom card each year. I take a nature photo that I took during the year and have a card printed to send to family and close friends. I use Apple's printing service for this and it's easy and inexpensive.

We have 4 kids in college and all they want are gift cards and cash. My husband likes gift cards for bookstores and movie theaters. One son wants his dna tested by 23andMe for Christmas.

Friends get homemade treats. My mother is the queen of not wanting anything that has to be fed or dusted or that has directions that come with it, so we usually get her a gift card to feed her Kindle. My sister is always engaged in a fix-it project for her house, so she gets a Home Depot gift card.

My Christmas shopping will consist of stocking stuffers. I need grandchildren so I can buy toys. Right now, I buy toys and treats for my dog instead. I wrap them in tissue paper and he is like a kid on Christmas morning ... sort of.
