Have we gone too casual?

Decades later, when I was in High School, they were called Hot Pants.
My friend's father blew his stack.. he said "I don't care if they're hot pants or cold pants, YOU'RE not wearin' them!!!" :ROFLMAO:
Oh I loved my hot-pants.. they were actually at one point my uniform at work when I worked in a Chic Fashion Boutique.. we had peach hot-pants, white silk blouses.. and Peach/pink Platform suede boots, provided by the company to look fashinably uptodate .. and we had to stand 10 hours a day on the shop floor in those boots.. I never remember my feet hurting, isn't that strange.. ?

My own personal hot pants were like these

that same year in winter we went from hot pants to midi dresses and coats.. and the platform knee high boots stayed in fashion for another 5 or 6 years

Me...I wouldn't be caught dead outside in a onesie - I don't even own one. Some people I have seen are really casual with flip flops or slippers out in the mall and on the street - that's ok with them but not for me. My clothes are clean; not ripped or stained; not outlandish or flashy too draw attention, so I'm ok with it. I don't dress up much because we don't usually go anywhere but I do have some nice stuff if we do.

ok ok caught dead outside with a onesie? really I wore it under a winter coat sitting in a car when the weather was below freezing..sorry I brought up the damn onesie....my clothes are clean and I would not be caught inappropriately dressed unless I was sitting in a car with no intentions of leaving said car...

But what if you had an accident and had to be rushed to the Emergency Room?

I don't agree with it but "slop wear" is in here in Canada. So is the "dumb and dumber" society that is trying to be "all inclusive." I hope they also include the Proud Boys and the Hell's Angels. Well, why not? If they want an "all inclusive" society they can't just pick and choose who they want to be included. It is suppose to be "All Inclusive."

Well ...... I agree so I suppose we have both became 'stuffy'.

But I too would like to see us go back to proper dress/appearance impression ....... etc.
I have to agree. I remember when I went into a bank and needed to speak to a financial officer. This woman in a track suit came up to me and asked if she could help. Can you blame me for being confused? I thought she was another customer!

I do miss uniforms, the main reason is that when you are in a store, you don't know who works there or who doesn't because there is nothing to distinguish between the customers and the employees, unless they wear a vest or a name tag.

And I do miss having a reason to wear my nicer clothes. They just sit in the closet because I would stick out like a sore thumb nowadays if I wore them. My niece got married a few years back. I bought a dress especially for the occasion. When I got there, half the guests were not even semi formally dressed. I thought it was disrespectful.

I wore that same item when I was a waitress. Mine was red, and I wore a short sleeved white blouse under it, pantyhose, white socks and white sneakers.

I’ve been long retired but have been surprised at how casual we have become, especially
at work, at church, and funerals. It seems to me our manners and most other facets of
life have suffered as well. Of course we have a pandemic and that has caused our communications to suffer as well as relationships.

I did a paper back in sociology class that was about how your dress effected your attitude and your speech. I still believe that it is a respectful thing to take the time and care to dress decently for an event. Makes it more special and not just every day. I enjoy dressing to attend worship as it is a respectful event in a special place.

Yes I was raised to believe the way you presented yourself was important on how you respected yourself and others…
