Have we gone too casual?

Maybe a bit. Years ago, early 80's, we went to see The Nutcracker. There were people in long gowns very dressed up, people in jeans. My mother said they looked like peasants. We were dressed in the middle. I think I wore a dress. My mother was from Dresden Germany and they would get dressed for the opera she said.

It * is* sad that in a lot of ppl’s minds, there is no such thing as a Special Occasion— ballet, live orchestra, theater, just come any ol’ way .

Ii am retired and want to be comfortable before I die. I dress for comfort and have no one to impress any longer.

I can't spend hundreds of dollars on clothes just to go and see Hamlet. I'll stay home with the accessible version.

I could care less about what you wear in everyday life. I would prefer not to see your privates at Walmart. I do dress when needed for a funeral or wedding or special occasions. Other than that, I go to the grocery in jeans or sweats. When I am home, I am in my pj's and a robe. If I am not going out there is no need to dress, I do not have visitors.

Is it possible to be too casual at a fitness center? Most of the older women wear stretch pants or sweat pants and a tee shirt to work out, but most of the younger people wear things like this:

I'm sure the guys just love this look, but personally it irritates me to have to look at it. I guess I'm becoming an old fuddy-duddy.

Ive just bought a couple of nice jackets and wide leg trousers to go to the theatre in and visiting Statley Homes ., It makes it more of an occassion if i get dressed up.

My brother is a doctor (specifically a GP). He also specializes in diabetes and he himself is insulin dependent. He wears jeans in the clinic. His hair is very long tied into a ponytail. When his hair gets too long, he donates it to wigs for cancer. His patients know me as sometimes we would go to lunch together and they would see us together. His patients have come up to me and have said what a wonderful doctor he is. As long as a person is dressed cleanly and is not semi-naked or something like that, I don't care....especially if they are doing their job as well as they should be.
