Have you been to your "Touristy" places?

When I lived in Mass, "Old Sturbridge Village" is this place where they have these old historic buildings. People come from all over to see it. Big touristy thing. I know people who lived on the road to it, and have never gone to see it. I lived 8 miles away-never went. When I moved to NYC, in the Queens section, there were people who never left Queens, or went to the "City" ( Manhattan) in their lives. Have you been to your local "touristy" places?

Oh yes, Fuzzy and enjoyed every one of them including Old Sturbridge Village in MA, Provincetown on the cape in MA, Old Mystic Seaport in CT, The Empire State Building in NYC and other places there -plus more I can't think of now.

Although I live near NYC, I have never toured the Statue of Liberty.

I'm guilty, I have lived in various locations in the eastern United States and never took the time to check out the local attractions.

I guess I'm not normal when it comes to those things, I don't really get too excited about seeing things up close and personal. I would rather read a book or watch a documentary about them than deal with the people, traffic, etc...

We were always in a hurry when we traveled back and forth across the Southwest to visit family or on business so we never stopped at the tourist sites we wished we could see. Finally took a vacation and did visit those places. We were most impressed with Tombstone, Arizona. As well as being quite a bloody and famous old mining town, the modern version is a party town with old-fashioned dances and live music somewhere every night. I had just been laid off so we decided to move there, bought a home and stayed there for the next six years.

Whenever we lived in the south of England, we rarely visited 'Touristy places', so when we retired and moved to Scotland we decided to visit more such places. There are no shortage of castles, distilleries, ancient monuments etc.. so we have no problem finding places to see.

Yes I think I've been to most of them.

How could you not visit Culloden, or the haunts of Mary , Queen of Scots?

I'm not a golfer so I drive past the Old Course and the Swilken Bridge every day without a second glance, but I know they're there.

Yes I volunteer at a large Museum in my area, dedicated to the Cornish miners who came to Australia to work in the copper mines.

Oh yeah. When I lived in Vegas and my parents visited, I took them to see Wayne Newton, the old Imperial Palace car collection, the flying Elvii and the strip. When my dad visited here, I took him around Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Harrah's car collection, and his favorite, Hangtown (Placerville).
