Have you come up with any unique ways to save money on travel expenses during these inflationary times?

I'm a frugal tech savvy peon very web search skilled, so use the web to drill down at least costly rates. Sometimes on road trips sleep in the comfortably set up back bed of my 2007 Forester. Eat mostly from food bought in supermarkets. Not into restaurant dining. Use gasbuddy dot com to find cheap gasoline stations. Not into expensive canned vacations of leisure industries vying for the wealthy.

Last Wednesday night at South Lake Tahoe reserved with a travel corp, a lodging room that would be high $$$ on weekends for just $65 including all taxes and fees. Deluxe two bedroom accommodation with full living room with fireplace, dining room, fully stocked kitchen, 3 big screen TVs with ++Internet and streaming.

Other than taking more day trips I haven't come up with much. How about you?
Here's a story I wrote about a couple who found their own unique way to travel on a limited budget. It's titled World Class Travelers. Here's a link.
I love your story!
I was surprised that Clarence and Gladys started traveling in their 70's. I see now their unique way to see the world.
Youtube has so much to offer seniors. We had thought about buying an RV to travel but after watching videos of people who had done that we could see it would be more work than we'd want to take on.

We have had a timeshare since 2009. It's been paid for many years. We bought points, not weeks and if we book within 45 days we use much lower points giving us a few vacations a year. Since we bought our "home" unit in the off season, we got more points for our money. We almost always travel spring and fall when kids are in school. Yes, we pay maintenance and a booking fee but all in all it's way less than renting a place. We don't travel far so no airline costs. It's condos so it's all the ammenities we need.
We've been happy with it despite all the stories of people trying to dump them.
We do the one meal a day rule too. Usually it's lunch.

We travel light, only carry-on luggage. For example, light weight clothing for only 3 days that can be washed in the hotel and dries overnight (we are bringing coat hangers just in case) 1 pair of sandals and a flip-flop as back-up. Thus, we are saving money by getting away with a small rental car where everything fits in the trunk. When we came back from 2 weeks in Europe, the US Custom's official asked us, "and where is your other luggage?" Travelling light saves in many different ways, like checking in-and-out, less time consuming, less hassle, no dependence on others, etc.
