...and it stayed with you ?

I am just average looking I know that.. but I'm lucky I've never been called ugly by anyone to my knowledge..

In todays' news a wife has found old messages on her husbands' phone from 6 years ago where he described her as Ugly.. but she wouldn't stop chasing him, and he couldn't bring himself to have intimate relations with her..

Eventually they married, but she's devastated .. she says now she can't believe a word he says now when he tells her she's beautiful...

...so all her trust in the man she loves has gone... very sad!!.

So has anyone called you Ugly..or... any derogatory name that hurt ?

Holly, you are more than adverage looking. Your a very pretty woman. I know you didn't write that for compliments but it's the truth.

Have I, oh yes. Members of my own "family" included. Has it stuck with me? It sure has. I can't even convey how highly sensitive I am about my looks.

Average! If you are average, I am Adonis! 😀

Not really been called any names, except playground stuff.

No, at least not to my knowledge! It would be a horrible thing to say to a person.

I can't imagine wanting to stay with someone who had spoken about me like that but, they have been married for 6 years and have 3 children so, I would have thought it better to resolve this issue privately rather than make it public.

I was given this book by relative. The message handwritten inside said: "If the shoe fits, wear it!" Haven't turned into swan yet, but now I no longer care...

Then, I've been called "red skin" due to paternal grandmother's indigenous roots.
You may well be a swan @Supernatural but, people do not always see themselves as attractive, especially when someone has put them down like that. Whatever the case, you are surely a much nicer person than the giver of that book and those who have made the other comments you mention.

Probably, but not that I remember. I am pretty good at letting it just roll off and forgetting.

No you aren't, and I am pretty sure you know it. You should. And I am apparently not alone in this one.

Was it in a derogatory way?

Hopefully the book was intended as a bad joke.

i guess i clean out my texts so regularly i have a hard time buying texts from 6 years ago......
this is the stupid thing i think about people not deleting old texts .. i have made sure any text to or from me would not cause an issue if i passed on and someone looked at my phone lol.

i had one instance in Jr high school where a boy said he "liked all about me ...BUT my face" ...... so i guess that qualifies as being called ugly.
the fact i can remember it must mean it stuck with me..... but as he was a jerk and 13 who cares.

ok..thanks for the compliment Rob... and all those who have complimented me, but can I just get something straight here.. I am very honest in telling you all that I do not, and never have thought of myself as anything other than average looking.. not to say I haven't been told by those who love/loved me that I was beautiful, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. and in their hearts.. I will never believe I am any prettier than the average woman.. ...so I thank you all who say different, but please this really is my honest stance on my looks.. and always has been .

I have to tell you, just the last week I was clearing out old texts and emails, going back to 2015...

What the actual.... I don't know if that person was cruel, ignorant or bat sh*! crazy. I'm sure you are proud of your indigenous heritage as anyone should be.

Let's see: 1) told I should never let people watch me eat because I chew like an old woman; 2) told I have an ugly smile (yellow teeth and because of a jaw joint problem, my smile looks like a grimace); 3) told by my brother that, because I had blonde hair (which is natural, not dyed) and because of the body type I had (large bust and short legs), I was "cheap looking" (he said he knew I couldn't help it but I still looked "cheap"); 4) told by my mother that it was better if I was just myself because "someday, sometime, finally" there would have to finally be someone who liked me for myself.

And I agree with the others, Holly; I think you're a very pretty gal. (And you're nice too and that means more to me than looks these days.)

The popular boys at my high school every day would hang around outside the cafeteria/lunchroom and bark at the girls whom they considered "dogs" (not pretty); I quit eating lunch because I got tired of being barked at.

Yes it was derogatory...
Sorry to hear that, as @Remy said I think it's something to be proud of.

Growing up I had always heard that we were descended of a Native American great great something grandmother. Turns out one of my ancestors took a native woman as his second wife and they had children. However I am not descended from her, did not know that for sure until I got DNA testing done, no Native American heritage. I was disappointed!
