Have you ever been in such a hurry to leave the house you broke something?

I saw a car advertised on the Internet-just right for me. I made sure it was available, woke my husband up (he works third shift), and told him to hurry and get dressed. Rushed downstairs to change my clothes, was in my bedroom when my pinky toe got caught on my small footstool. OMG, the pain.

I actually blacked out for a couple seconds, it was that bad. Now I am a chronic pain patient. I have been in so much pain I have hallucinated; but I've never a blackout, ever. It's got to be broken. But I have a car to go buy.

Anyway, as soon as I was able I got ready, got my shoe on, and went to buy the car. I was sure I had broken my toe, but couldn't understand why it hurt so much, but whatever. I limped around with my walker, bought the car, went home, and toe is killing me-all night.

Still hurts in the morning. It is swollen, black and blue, red and purple. I have a rainbow toe. It is also swollen on my foot. I go to the walk in clinic, have an X-ray. I've fractured the lower part of the toe just above the joint. Have to wear a boot, and, can't drive my new car. The only car for me alone in 47 years of marriage.

It's a little Chevy spark, my husband is too big to fit behind the steering wheel. Once he got in the passenger seat, he could barely get out. It's just right for me. This would be funny if it weren't so very very sad. Oh wait, nope.

It's very very funny. Sigh.

I had a new 2013 Spark. I hope they've improved the air conditioning system, and gotten rid of the terrible, tiny, outside mirrors. That car had very bad blind spots. I sold mine after a year because it felt so unsafe. I wish you a speedy recovery, but when you start driving, again, be careful. I had to buy a spare tire for my new Spark, as they didn't come with them, back in 2013. That was crazy.

It's a 2017 and has a spare tire.

The car will be driven with a 15 mile radius of my house in 25 to 35 mph zones. I just wanted to be able to go to the store in the morning without having to wait for my husband to get up in the afternoon. Or a movie, etc. It gives me a bit of independence from a very controlling husband. He always goes everywhere with me.

Now I can go on my own, as soon as my foot heals. YAY me!

Congratulations on your new car Aneeda, and I hope your toe heals quickly. I've jammed my pinkie toe in the past, but thankfully never broke it.

Didn't break anything in the house, broke the antennae on the car. Didn't have the door up all the way. Just happened that day that automatic garage opener was not working. I pulled the door manually, but was in such a hurry I didn't put it up all the way. Expensive repair.

Excellent! That's what that car is great for. Fits into spaces no other car can. You're in the southwest? Again, I hope they solved the bad ac problem, or your summers will be hot ones, as you drive along. My ac was replaced, under warranty, and it still ran way too warm for Austin summers.

I live in one of the four corner states. Summer's are usually over a 100 degrees :(. But I bought the seven year bumper to bumper warranty so I should be fine. Besides, I like to shop in the morning. :)

Yes, about 3 years ago I went down the side steps too fast and then head first and broke my ankle and foot. The moral of the tale is "go slow." LOL

Well, this was in our garage, attached to the house....was in a hurry to get to work, forgot to close the car door, backing out, the door and the top of hubbys workbench connected and took (or tried to) take the workbench with me. Major damage to the car door, workbench was fine.

I've broken every toe on both feet twice except for one. It's so painful. And no new car to look forward forward to. Be well and just think how happy you'll be driving that car. :eek:nthego:
