Have You Ever Been On A Blind Date?

I’ve been on three blind dates many years ago set up by well-Intentioned friends. It’s aptly said that the streets of hell are paved with good intentions, however. One blind date insisted on meeting me at a bar where she arrived 45 minutes late, and then drank like a fish thereafter. A second blind date had clearly only accepted the date to make her friends happy; she had no interest in meeting anyone. The third was a religious fanatic whose idea of a fun time was to go to a so-called Christian coffee house where almost programed ecstatic responses to religious music were the order of the day.

Three strikes, and I was out of the blind dating scene! 😩
 

Was I ever set up? Yup. some patrons at local bar decided to fix me up. I didn't know anything about it, neither did she. Apparently, we were made for each other. She was female and I was male- that was about the extent we had in common. I was 28, she was 35. Did I mention her two kids? When we realized we were being set up, neither was interested. It was a long awkward night.
 
I checked out some singles ads and spoke to them on the phone first, so the dates weren't totally blind. We met, and it's really interesting how different the person is from the impression you get from talking on the phone. They probably thought the same. None went anywhere.

A few in my younger years.
One was a lovely gentleman, but short and I couldn't get past that as I prefer tall men. Another talked a lot of his bitter divorce and depression.

I must say it was an interesting thing to do, to meet some real characters, just as coffee date in a safe place in the daytime. The sad thing is when your heart sinks as you know there is no spark.

What on earth makes people matchmake? It is best to let fate deal with it or just invite people to a party and introduce them, then leave it be.
