Have you ever been to a Senior Citizen Center?

There was an even smaller town, population maybe 500, 18 miles down the road from my town in Montana that my buddy told me also had a Senior Center that put on a great feed. You were supposed to be 60 or something like that to be allowed to eat there, but they didn't turn anyone away, Families with kids would show up, and the age rule was just ignored. They should have simply called it "The Community Center." But that was the nature of that town. It put on celebrations that even drew large crowds from my town, which did not have much of community orientation, except for the senors dinner thing, EDIT: which was a volunteer project separate from the town.

I made an arrest one time in a senior center. There was an outstanding warrant for this man who was accused of sitting on his porch during nice weather and flashing the high school girls as they walked by his house.

When I arrested him and started to cuff him, some of the other occupants at the time started giving me the raspberries. They were asking why was I cuffing George. He wouldn’t hurt a fly. I told them to read the paper in the morning. It’s likely to be there and it was.

He was given a cognitive test and found to be a little off, so he was remanded to the custody of his daughter for 30 days and be retested.
Had she not accepted custody, he would have been sent to a facility that treats Dementia. I’m not sure what his outcome was. I didn’t always follow every case.

I went to one a couple of weeks ago, just to check it out. It is located across the street from where I was getting my taxes done.

It was a busy day, lots of people there. All sorts of activities for everyone. There were pool tables in one area, ladies were knitting or playing cards in another. They have a monthly flyer and they also serve lunch for $3 if you're a member. It's $25 yearly.

I've never been to one and there aren't any nearby my home. This thread prompted me to look into Los Angeles's offerings on that score and I can't say that any of activities interest me. Maybe in ten years... but then again, maybe not.
There aren’t any near me but there’s 5 of them in Sydney which is about an hour and 20 minutes away from where we live. It’s too far to go on a regular bases but maybe sometime we’ll visit one or two of them. Check out which has the best services. I’m not really a social butterfly though so not sure how I’d feel.
