Brought it home..
Had to assemble
hmmm?
why the left-over part?

where does it go?

Sound familiar?
Tell us about it!😉

When daughter was in her teens, she had 2 Ikea bookcases with a desk between them. We also had an Ikea bookcase in our bedroom. That was eons ago. They are long gone.

When I lived outside of Philadelphia in the early 2000s I bought a few small kitchen items and a flat pack bookcase with doors.

The biggest issue for me was the weight of the box.

I had to open the carton and move the pieces a few at a time to get them into my apartment.

I didn’t have any issues and the quality was about what you would expect for the price.

I think that it’s fine for a first apartment or a growing family that doesn’t want to spend a fortune while the kids are small.

At that time they also had a wonderful selection of reasonably priced handmade carpets but they were still a bit too spendy for me.

Never have. The closest IKEA that I know of is 700 miles away in Chicago. My sister and her husband have taken me there a couple of times, although they don't have any IKEA stuff that I know of. But the store is an interesting place to visit. Maybe not on the order the Museum of Natural History, but still interesting.

I did not buy any furniture from Ikea, but when we moved into our new apartment we bought many pieces that had to be assembled.
The life saver was a cordless drill and a set of metric allen drivers. It sure beat using that those little right angle wrenches that come with the pieces.

On the tall glass fronted cupboard I did the patterning on the glass so it looked a little different from a straightforward Ikea piece... It has 7 wide shelves and it's what holds all my trainers and shoes..

We bought kitchen cabinets for our laundry room. Great quality.

We did it based on the rave reviews from friends who did their whole large kitchen 20 years ago.

DSSon did his large kitchen by himself too, about two years ago. Lots of flexibility for quality.

Not part of the topic - I’ve never had the Swedish meatballs.

I have and now we can buy them in the supermarket as well... and I do... I love them,,,

In the Ikea store the hot dogs are tastier than Costco...

ETA I have 2 kilos of Swedish meatballs in my freezer...
