You don't know how you got them? I've had this happen a few times. A couple of years ago, there was a "charcoal brown" teardrop configuration on the left side of my neck close to my clavicle. It reminded me of a burn I got when my mother accidentally let the hot curlers touch my skin and was similar in color to the dark scar on the far left of my arm in the picture below. It eventually faded. I've also found a couple of scratches on my back that were horizontal though I'd do vertical scratches, even while sleeping. Now I can't figure out how I got these three horizontal markings on my right forearm. I didn't burn myself so I have no idea what caused them.:unsure:

When I was young, I had deep crease on my forehead,
from the hairline above the right eye, down to the eyebrow.

My mother once asked me how I got it, as I didn't know,
I said probably from my previous life, it might have been
what killed me, during the war!

It just disappeared over time, plus it wasn't always there,
only now and again.

Sorting can be stressful. Have you tried treating to see if any of the typical substances work? I have a couple of spots on my face that came after the shingles period, but they don't look like shingles. They are scaley and itch. Rubbing alcohol didn't work, but tea tree oil removed the scaley part. Now the larger place is a red spot.

Sometimes I’ll have a painful whack and nary a mark afterwards; other times I have no idea where my bruise happened

Recently I read that we lose a protective fat layer under our skin as we age so will bruise more easily.

I think it's other factors.
More fragile blood vessels.
People taking blood thinners.
That and the fact that as we age our skin becomes thinner and less hydrated. There are fatty layers under our skin that help to protect the blood vessels, but as we age they also begin to thin out and if we live live long enough, they will go away altogether.

Me? Marks on my body and face? HA! Wrinkles? HA!
Take a look at my avatar, I have the most marvelous complexion, not a line on my grecian face, not even a grey hair.
I do however have crap eyesight, and a lying swine of a mirror. 😊

When we older people bruise easily, nobody cares, not
even your Doctor, "it's your age", he/she will say, but if
a child bruises easily, the parents are arrested and put
into separate locked rooms, for interrogation, while the
child is examined and questioned and fostered till the
parents are cleared or jailed.

Strange world we live in today, no respect for the elderly,
from any office.

Mike.
