Have you ever gotten a massage?

I try to have massages regularly. It's relaxing, excellent for sore muscles from over-exertion, and extremely good for the circulation. In Asian medicine good circulation is EVERYTHING, because your life energy - ki or chi, as it's called - follows your body's circulatory path.

'Blockages' - those knots of tension or soreness - interrupt your energy's natural cycle, slowing down or even halting your body's ability to heal itself.

I've enjoyed many given by a few S-O's So wonderful.

I've had 2 by professionals gifted to me by two S-O's. I can't even describe the feeling; the loss of pain, the ease of mind, the total relief my body experienced.

It's been a long time. Too long.

Once a week for decades, but it takes time and money to find one that is suitable for your needs. It's physical therapy for me and it's often painful, but that's what my body needs. I'm using a man now and he happens to be particularly gifted. The typical"resort massage" does nothing for me.

I was recommended for Swedish massage therapy by my physician when I got into an over-exercise injury to my neck and shoulders. It was rather nice but painful in my case, and I wound up referred to physical therapy from there…

Lol.

About massage:

Archaeological evidence of massage has been found in many ancient civilizations including China, India, Japan, Korea, Egypt, Rome, Greece, and Mesopotamia.

BC 2330: The Tomb of Akmanthor(also known as "The Tomb of the Physician") in Saqqara, Egypt, depicts two men having work done on their feet and hands, possibly massage.
Akmanthor

BC 2000: The word muššu'u ("massage") is written for the first time, and its use is described, in some Sumerian and Akkadian texts found at the beginning of the 21st century in ancient Mesopotamia.

BC 722–481: Huangdi Neijing is composed during the Chinese Spring and Autumn period. The Nei-jing is a compilation of medical knowledge known up to that date, and is the foundation of traditional Chinese medicine. Massage is referred to in 30 different chapters of the Nei Jing. It specifies the use of different massage techniques and how they should be used in the treatment of specific ailments, and injuries. Also known as "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon," the text refers to previous medical knowledge from the time of the Yellow Emperor (approx 2700 BC), misleading some into believing the text itself was written during the time of the Yellow Emperor (which would predate written history).

Nathan, thanks for sharing this information. I found it interesting and educational.

As I said earlier, I love massages, but I've also had a bad one. At a fair, a massage school was offering 10 minute chair massages, so I partook. Wish I hadn't. I have no idea what that girl did to my right neck/shoulder area, but it started hurting shortly afterward. I had a 7 a.m., 6-hour flight the next day and was in bad pain the whole way. It took days for the pain to completely go away.

No more massage students for me.
