Have you ever made a drastic change to your looks ?

My natural hair colour is chestnut, at 16 I’d dyed it to jet black and wore it long, halfway down my back, one day my friend cropped it really short and bleached it blonde !!

I remember my father coming home from work, seeing me at the dining table and asking my mother “Who the hells that” ? 😳

Wow Wren, that would be a shocker. I have never gone really drastic, just changing the cut from semi short to chin length and colour varies from brunette to auburn to dark blonde.

But....There's a St. Paddy's Day party coming up. I plan to wear my lime green wig, my stick on shamrocks on my cheeks, green nail polish and glitter. Is that enough of a change?

Back in the mid 70's I went through a punk rock phase and had my rather long hair cut extremely short. No mohawk or anything but it was very close to being bald. It shocked friends and family at the time because like most men in their early years back then I did wear my hair rather long. Of course in a couple of years after getting it cut so short, short hair became the norm for men so I no longer looked out of place.

My hair was really long my whole adult life, almost to my waist. I wanted to cut it for years but my ex who controlled everything about me, wouldn't let me get it cut.

Right before I left, I got it all cut off, to the kind of look I have now. Style was slightly different back then, but it went from very long to very short!

And these days, though the style remains more or less the same, I'm always putting fun colors in it...turquoise is my fave, but I also do pink, green, lavender, burgundy. You just never know what you'll see next! ;)

When I was dating my wife she wanted me to grow my hair long (past the shoulders) and grow a mustache. So of course I did.
I cut my hair when I entered the business world, but kept the mustache. I shaved it off when my kids were around 10 & 6 and I still remember the funny looks on their faces when they saw me, as it took them a minute to realize it was just dear old dad.

My junior year in high school, I used something on my black hair that turned it a bright orange. I was in hysterics. My mother told me that I was going to have to let it grow back but after the dark roots were close to two inches long, she relented and let me have it dyed back. I learned my lesson...….

When I was 30, I had long hair down past my waist. I went on vacation to Florida and decided on the spur of the moment to get a pixie cut.

auburn haired as a kid' at 14 I dyed it red and short cut /after 3weeks went a deeper red / let it grow - had shaggy perm 'all the go' then - got so bored same ole look had it cut again 'dyed it cheshnut with hi- lites ..but now its blonde straight bob cut '

At 13, I wanted to cut my long hair short for the summer. My mother was too busy to cut it, so I did it. It was way too short and looked awful. People who didn't know me asked if I was a boy or girl. I liked keeping people guessing, so I started wearing boys' shirts. Guess that was my transgender phase. I was ready to be a girl again by the time school started and my hair had grown out.

When I was 19, I got the bright idea that I wanted to be a blonde since my hair was a honey blonde until I was about 8 years old then it turned really dark brown. It turned out bright orange - the only thing good about it was it matched m lipstick since I always wear orange lipstick :p:p:p It looked absolutely horrible 😧😧😧 I haven't colored it since.

Having had a long straight hairdo all through high school, I decided it was time for a change when I was 18 and starting my first real job at an insurance company. On the spur of the moment, because the hairdresser couldn't take me without an appointment, I stopped at a barber's who gave me the best cut I've had to date .. an asymmetrical blunt cut - one side shorter than the other - Vidal Sassoon style.

Similar to this, but brunette, obviously.

when i was 13....i put immac ( hair remover) under my eyebrows , because they were too thick, i wanted lovely thin ones......when i wiped it off......😱😱 No eyebrows..’!!......mum had to pencil them in for me for school .......

I did that, too, but I think the product was called Nair. Left it on too long, and it ate away skin on my forehead.

When I was in my 30's I went to a new beauty salon to get a cut and perm. I told the hairdresser what I wanted and she went to work. She had 2 other customers, older than me, who were having the same done. I was under the hair dryer watching her finish up the other two. The hairdresser was styling my hair and when she finished, my hair do was exactly like the other two before me! She only knew how to do one hair style. It made me look 20 years older than I was. 💇🏻 LOL.

Does anyone remember the old "beehive" haircuts? Had a friend that was a big gal...she would go to the hairdresser, get a beehive, then spray it with "extra hold" hairspray and keep it like that for a week...one time I went for a ride with her in her Corvette pop top, and swear we were going like 70 mph and that sucker didn't even more. She could hide a long handled comb inside it!
